'Rain' in the Bible

Now no shrub of the field was yet in the earth, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.

For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made.”

Also the fountains of the deep and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the rain from the sky was restrained;

So Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread out his hands to the Lord; and the thunder and the hail ceased, and rain no longer poured on the earth.

Or the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and He will shut up the heavens so that there will be no rain and the ground will not yield its fruit; and you will perish quickly from the good land which the Lord is giving you.

The Lord will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

The Lord will make the rain of your land powder and dust; from heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed.

“Let my teaching drop as the rain,My speech distill as the dew,As the droplets on the fresh grassAnd as the showers on the herb.

‘They do not say in their heart,“Let us now fear the Lord our God,Who gives rain in its season,Both the autumn rain and the spring rain,Who keeps for usThe appointed weeks of the harvest.”

When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth;He makes lightning for the rain,And brings out the wind from His storehouses.

“Because the ground is cracked,For there has been no rain on the land;The farmers have been put to shame,They have covered their heads.

Are there any among the idols of the nations who give rain?Or can the heavens grant showers?Is it not You, O Lord our God?Therefore we hope in You,For You are the one who has done all these things.

so tell those who plaster it over with whitewash, that it will fall. A flooding rain will come, and you, O hailstones, will fall; and a violent wind will break out.

Therefore, thus says the Lord God, “I will make a violent wind break out in My wrath. There will also be in My anger a flooding rain and hailstones to consume it in wrath.

With pestilence and with blood I will enter into judgment with him; and I will rain on him and on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, a torrential rain, with hailstones, fire and brimstone.

“So let us know, let us press on to know the Lord.His going forth is as certain as the dawn;And He will come to us like the rain,Like the spring rain watering the earth.”

Sow with a view to righteousness,Reap in accordance with kindness;Break up your fallow ground,For it is time to seek the LordUntil He comes to rain righteousness on you.

So rejoice, O sons of Zion,And be glad in the Lord your God;For He has given you the early rain for your vindication.And He has poured down for you the rain,The early and latter rain as before.

“Furthermore, I withheld the rain from youWhile there were still three months until harvest.Then I would send rain on one cityAnd on another city I would not send rain;One part would be rained on,While the part not rained on would dry up.

Ask rain from the Lord at the time of the spring rain—The Lord who makes the storm clouds;And He will give them showers of rain, vegetation in the field to each man.

If the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the plague with which the Lord smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God;

These have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall during the days of their prophesying; and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.
