People will go into caves in the rocks and into holes in the ground because of Jehovah's terrifying presence and the honor of his majesty when he rises to shake the earth.


They said to the mountains and rocks: Fall on us, and hide us from the presence of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath has come; and who will be able to stand?


Distress and anguish fill him with terror. They overwhelm him, like a king poised to attack.

Terrifying sounds fill his ears. When all seems well, marauders attack him.

Terror and dread fall upon them. By the greatness of your arm they are motionless as stone. Until your people pass over, O Jehovah, until the people pass over whom you have purchased.


At once Saul fell down and lay stretched out on the ground. He was terrified by what Samuel said. He was weak because he had not eaten anything all day and all night.

Saul was terrified when he saw the Philistine army.


The fear of the wicked will come upon him. The desire of the righteous will be granted.



The sinners in Zion are terrified. The godless tremble. Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with long lasting fire?

In your thoughts you will ponder the former terror: Where is that chief officer? Where is the one who took the revenue? Where is the officer in charge of the towers?



When that day comes, Jehovah will give you relief from your pain and suffering, from the hard slavery you were forced to do.


Then Saul told Samuel: I have sinned by not following Jehovah's command or your instructions. I was afraid of the people and listened to them.

The parents said these things because they feared the Jews. The Jews had agreed that if any man should confess him to be Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.






Do not say that everything these people call a conspiracy is a conspiracy. Do not fear what they fear. Do not let it terrify you!


Distress and anguish fill him with terror. They overwhelm him, like a king poised to attack.

Terrors startle him on every side and chase him at his heels.


then this is what I will do to you: I will terrorize you with disease and fever. You will suffer from eye problems and depression. You will plant your crops and get nothing because your enemies will eat them. I will condemn you so that you will go down in defeat in front of your enemies. Those who hate you will be your rulers. You will run away even when no one is chasing you.




There was panic among the army in the field. All the troops in the military post trembled with fear. The raiding party also trembled in fear. The earth shook, and there was a panic sent from God.


Every man stood in his place around the camp. The army ran, and cried, and fled. The three hundred blew the trumpets. Jehovah set every man's sword against his companions. They turned on each other throughout all the army. The army fled to Beth-shittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abel-meholah, to Tabbath.


But there remains a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fiery indignation, which will devour God's enemies.


You are to keep in memory the agreement I made with you. You are to have no other gods.




Adonijah's guests were afraid. So they all left.




You are driving me from the land today. I will be hidden from your presence. I will be a restless (homeless) wanderer on the earth. And whoever finds me will kill me.


How are they destroyed, suddenly! They are utterly consumed with terrors.


Then the king's countenance (appearance) changed in him. His thoughts troubled him. The joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees struck one against the other.




Esther said: Our hater and attacker is this evil Haman. Then Haman was full of fear before the king and the queen.


A report was made to the house of David saying: Aram has allied itself with Ephraim. The heart of Ahaz and the heart of his people shook (their courage failed) as the trees of the forest shake before the wind.




Fear and trembling have overcome me. Horror has overwhelmed me.


When Pilate heard this he was more afraid.
