Hebrews 12:5-7

You have forgotten the exhortation that reasons with you as to sons: My son, do not despise (regard lightly) discipline from Jehovah and do not lose heart when he corrects you. (Proverbs 3:11, 12) Jehovah disciplines those he loves. In fact he scourges every son (child) he receives. God deals with you like children. Endure discipline (instruction) (training). Who is the child whom a father does not discipline?

Proverbs 3:11-12

My son, do not despise Jehovah's discipline or be weary of his correction. For whom Jehovah loves He reproves, just like a father corrects the son he loves dearly. (Hebrews 12:6)

Deuteronomy 4:36

He made you hear his voice out of heaven. That way he could instruct (teach) (correct) (discipline) you. He showed you his great fire on the earth. You heard his words from the middle of the fire.

2 Samuel 7:14

Leviticus 10:1-3

Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu each took an incense burner. They put burning coals and incense in it. Then in Jehovah's presence they offered this unauthorized fire. A fire flashed from Jehovah and burned them. They died in the presence of Jehovah. Moses said to Aaron: This is what Jehovah was speaking about when he said: 'All who serve me must respect my holiness. I will reveal my glory to my people.' But Aaron remained silent.

Numbers 11:1-3

The people complained out loud to Jehovah about their troubles. Jehovah heard them and he became angry. Fire from Jehovah burned among them. It destroyed some people on the outskirts of the camp. The people cried out to Moses. Moses prayed to Jehovah! And the fire died down. That place was called Taberah (Fire) because fire from Jehovah burned among them there.

1 Samuel 4:17-21

The messenger answered: Israel ran away from the Philistines. It was a great slaughter and a terrible defeat for us! Besides that, your sons Hophni and Phinehas were killed, and God's Ark of the Covenant was captured! When the man mentioned the Ark of God Eli fell backward from his seat beside the gate. 2 Samuel 6:6-8

As they came to the threshing place of Nacon, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out and took hold of the Ark of the Covenant. At once Jehovah God became angry with Uzzah. He killed him because of his irreverence. Uzzah died there beside the Ark of the Covenant. Because of that the place has been called Perez Uzzah (breakthrough of Uzzah) ever since. David was furious because Jehovah punished Uzzah in anger.

1 Chronicles 13:9-11

When they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the Ark, because the bulls stumbled. Jehovah's anger burned against Uzzah. He struck him down because he had put his hand on the Ark. So he died there before God. David was angry because Jehovah's wrath had broken out against Uzzah. Luke 12:5

I will show you the one to fear. Fear the one who, after he has killed, has power to destroy you (throw into the ever-burning trash fires of the valley of Hinnom) (Greek: Gehenna). This is one you should fear.

Matthew 5:29-30

If your right eye causes you to sin, take it out and throw it away! It is better to lose a part of your body then to have your whole body destroyed in the ever-burning fires of the Valley of Hinnom. If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better to lose part of your body, than for your whole body to be destroyed in the ever-burning fire. (Figuratively: lose prospect for everlasting life; ever-burning fire means total destruction.)

Matthew 5:22

Now I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother [without cause] shall be guilty before the court. Whoever speaks to his brother with words of contempt shall receive condemnation before the Sanhedrin [Supreme Court]. Curse your brother and you will be guilty enough to be destroyed by fire, with the burning trash, at the Valley of Hinnom, outside of Jerusalem (Greek: Gehenna).

The sinners in Zion are terrified. The godless tremble. Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with long lasting fire?
