Shout for joy, you heavens!
Earth, rejoice!
Mountains break into joyful shouts!
For the Lord has comforted His people,
and will have compassion on His afflicted ones.

Then the young woman will rejoice with dancing,
while young and old men rejoice together.
I will turn their mourning into joy,
give them consolation,
and bring happiness out of grief.

Those who mourn are blessed,
for they will be comforted.

He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

But God, who comforts the humble, comforted us by the arrival of Titus,

By your endurance gain your lives.

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer.

Therefore, we ourselves boast about you among God’s churches—about your endurance and faith in all the persecutions and afflictions you endure.

But endurance must do its complete work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.

For what credit is there if you sin and are punished, and you endure it? But when you do what is good and suffer, if you endure it, this brings favor with God.

You are righteous concerning all that has come on us,
because You have acted faithfully,
while we have acted wickedly.

“You speak as a foolish woman speaks,” he told her. “Should we accept only good from God and not adversity?” Throughout all this Job did not sin in what he said.

You welcome the one who joyfully does what is right; they remember You in Your ways. But we have sinned, and You were angry; we will remain in Your ways and be saved. I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,
and the day of our God’s vengeance;
to comfort all who mourn,

"Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said, “Don’t cry.”

“Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.

But I have trusted in Your faithful love;
my heart will rejoice in Your deliverance.

You caused me to experience many troubles and misfortunes, but You will revive me again. You will bring me up again, even from the depths of the earth. My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to You, because You have redeemed me.

Indeed, we personally had a death sentence within ourselves, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead.

See how happy the man is God corrects;
so do not reject the discipline of the Almighty.

Do not despise the Lord’s instruction, my son,
and do not loathe His discipline;

And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons:

My son, do not take the Lord’s discipline lightly
or faint when you are reproved by Him,

The warden did not bother with anything under Joseph's authority, because the Lord was with him, and the Lord made everything that he did successful.

For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, so that you won't grow weary and lose heart.

For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in His steps. He did not commit sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth; when reviled, He did not revile in return; when suffering, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to the One who judges justly.

Do not hide Your face from me;
do not turn Your servant away in anger.
You have been my helper;
do not leave me or abandon me,
God of my salvation.

He has delivered us from such a terrible death, and He will deliver us. We have put our hope in Him that He will deliver us again

Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. For You, [Lord,] rescued me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

For a nation from the north will come against her; it will make her land desolate. No one will be living in it- both man and beast will escape. He redeemed them
because of His love and compassion;
He lifted them up and carried them
all the days of the past.

but not a hair of your head will be lost.

I sought the Lord, and He answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.

Many adversities come to the one who is righteous,
but the Lord delivers him from them all.

God is within her; she will not be toppled.
God will help her when the morning dawns.

The Lord of Hosts is with us;

Then Nathan went home. The Lord struck the baby that Uriah's wife had borne to David, and he became ill. David pleaded with God for the boy. So he asked his servants, "Is the baby dead?" "He is dead," they replied. Then David got up from the ground. He washed, anointed himself, changed his clothes, went to the Lord's house, and worshiped. Then he went home and requested [something to eat]. So they served him food, and he ate. His servants asked him, "What did you just do? While the baby was alive, you fasted and wept, but when he died, you got up and ate food." He answered, "While the baby was alive, I fasted and wept because I thought, 'Who knows? The Lord may be gracious to me and let him live.' But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I'll go to him, but he will never return to me."

Because you have kept My command to endure, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is going to come over the whole world to test those who live on the earth.

I will enter Your house with burnt offerings; I will pay You my vows that my lips promised and my mouth spoke during my distress. I will offer You fattened sheep as burnt offerings, with the fragrant smoke of rams; I will sacrifice oxen with goats. Selah

and chose to suffer with the people of God rather than to enjoy the short-lived pleasure of sin.

When I heard these words, I sat down and wept. I mourned for a number of days, fasting and praying before the God of heaven.

For He will conceal me in His shelter in the day of adversity; He will hide me under the cover of His tent; He will set me high on a rock. Then my head will be high above my enemies around me; I will offer sacrifices in His tent with shouts of joy. I will sing and make music to the Lord.

Suppose someone says to God, "I have endured [my punishment]; I will no [longer] act wickedly. Teach me what I cannot see; if I have done wrong, I won't do it again."

He protects all his bones;
not one of them is broken.

Brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the Lord’s name as an example of suffering and patience.

I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.

Those who mourn are blessed,
for they will be comforted.

Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy. Though one goes along weeping, carrying the bag of seed, he will surely come back with shouts of joy, carrying his sheaves.

Instead, as you share in the sufferings of the Messiah rejoice, so that you may also rejoice with great joy at the revelation of His glory. If you are ridiculed for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

Keep in mind that the Lord your God has been disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.

I know, Lord, that Your judgments are just
and that You have afflicted me fairly.

for the Lord disciplines the one He loves,
just as a father, the son he delights in.

but when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord, so that we may not be condemned with the world.

for the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and punishes every son whom He receives. Endure it as discipline: God is dealing with you as sons. For what son is there whom a father does not discipline?

For His anger lasts only a moment,
but His favor, a lifetime.
Weeping may spend the night,
but there is joy in the morning.

He will not always accuse us
or be angry forever.

"I deserted you for a brief moment, but I will take you back with great compassion. In a surge of anger I hid My face from you for a moment, but I will have compassion on you with everlasting love," says the Lord your Redeemer.

“I assure you: You will weep and wail, but the world will rejoice. You will become sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy.

You rejoice in this, though now for a short time you have had to struggle in various trials

For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.

“Then they will hand you over for persecution, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of My name.

But they will do all these things to you on account of My name, because they don’t know the One who sent Me.

along with the persecutions and sufferings that came to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from them all. In fact, all those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”

strengthening the disciples by encouraging them to continue in the faith and by telling them, “It is necessary to pass through many troubles on our way into the kingdom of God.”

See how happy the man is God corrects;
so do not reject the discipline of the Almighty.

See, we count as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job’s endurance and have seen the outcome from the Lord. The Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
