Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be delivered.

Who has believed what we have heard? And who has the arm of the Lord been revealed to? He grew up before Him like a young plant and like a root out of dry ground. But as for you, be serious about everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

but when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord, so that we may not be condemned with the world.

As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be committed and repent.

He has delivered us from such a terrible death, and He will deliver us. We have put our hope in Him that He will deliver us again

He will rescue you from six calamities;
no harm will touch you in seven.

He Himself will deliver you from the hunter’s net,
from the destructive plague.

For You, Lord, rescued me from death,

my feet from stumbling.

I will be the same until your old age,
and I will bear you up when you turn gray.
I have made you, and I will carry you;

At the time of his distress, King Ahaz himself became more unfaithful to the Lord.

But he did not humble himself before the Lord like his father Manasseh humbled himself; instead, Amon increased his guilt.

You warned them to turn back to Your law,
but they acted arrogantly
and would not obey Your commands.
They sinned against Your ordinances,
which a person will live by if he does them.
They stubbornly resisted,
stiffened their necks, and would not obey.

Were they ashamed when they acted so abhorrently?
They weren’t at all ashamed.
They can no longer feel humiliation.

For You, God, tested us;

I will turn My hand against you

Look, I have refined you, but not as silver;

In all their suffering, He suffered,
and the Angel of His Presence saved them.
He redeemed them
because of His love and compassion;
He lifted them up and carried them
all the days of the past.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.

Then the Lord said, “I have observed the misery of My people in Egypt, and have heard them crying out because of their oppressors, and I know about their sufferings.

Man born of woman
is short of days and full of trouble.

This is my comfort in my affliction:
Your promise has given me life.

Yet He was compassionate;
He atoned for their guilt
and did not destroy them.
He often turned His anger aside
and did not unleash all His wrath.

I know, Lord, that Your judgments are just
and that You have afflicted me fairly.

for the Lord disciplines the one He loves,
just as a father, the son he delights in.

but when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord, so that we may not be condemned with the world.

for the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and punishes every son whom He receives. Endure it as discipline: God is dealing with you as sons. For what son is there whom a father does not discipline?

They washed their robes and made them white
in the blood of the Lamb.

If his sons forsake My instruction and do not live by My ordinances, if they dishonor My statutes and do not keep My commandments, then I will call their rebellion to account with the rod, their sin with blows.

Because of his sinful greed I was angry,
so I struck him; I was angry and hid;
but he went on turning back to the desires of his heart.

and said, "You son of the Devil, full of all deceit and all fraud, enemy of all righteousness! Won't you ever stop perverting the straight paths of the Lord? Now, look! The Lord's hand is against you: you are going to be blind, and will not see the sun for a time." Suddenly a mist and darkness fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

Call on Me in a day of trouble;

Lord, happy is the man You discipline
and teach from Your law

The Lord will sustain him on his sickbed;
You will heal him on the bed where he lies.

If I walk into the thick of danger,
You will preserve my life
from the anger of my enemies.
You will extend Your hand;
Your right hand will save me.

I am deeply depressed;
therefore I remember You from the land of Jordan
and the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.

I have sunk in deep mud, and there is no footing;
I have come into deep waters,
and a flood sweeps over me.

When I tried to understand all this,
it seemed hopeless

By the rivers of Babylon—
there we sat down and wept
when we remembered Zion.

Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good,” for he thought: Why not, if there will be peace and security during my lifetime?

But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I’ll go to him, but he will never return to me.”

However, if He should say, ‘I do not delight in you,’ then here I am—He can do with me whatever pleases Him.”

“Then they will hand you over for persecution, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of My name.

But they will do all these things to you on account of My name, because they don’t know the One who sent Me.

along with the persecutions and sufferings that came to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from them all. In fact, all those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will triumph in the Lord; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!

Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

“Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! Take note—your reward is great in heaven, for this is the way their ancestors used to treat the prophets.

For His anger lasts only a moment,
but His favor, a lifetime.
Weeping may spend the night,
but there is joy in the morning.

He will not always accuse us
or be angry forever.

"I deserted you for a brief moment, but I will take you back with great compassion. In a surge of anger I hid My face from you for a moment, but I will have compassion on you with everlasting love," says the Lord your Redeemer.

You fed them the bread of tears
and gave them a full measure
of tears to drink.

Nevertheless, the gloom of the distressed land will not be like that of the former times when He humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali. But in the future He will bring honor to the Way of the Sea, to the land east of the Jordan, and to Galilee of the nations.

And you, My servant Jacob, do not be afraid—
this is the Lord’s declaration—
for I will be with you.
I will bring destruction on all the nations
where I have banished you,
but I will not bring destruction on you.
I will discipline you with justice,
and I will by no means leave you unpunished.

If He passes by and throws someone in prison
or convenes a court, who can stop Him?

Does an ax exalt itself
above the one who chops with it?
Does a saw magnify itself
above the one who saws with it?
It would be like a staff waving the one who lifts it!
It would be like a rod lifting a man who isn’t wood!

I form light and create darkness,
I make success and create disaster;
I, Yahweh, do all these things.

as grieving yet always rejoicing;
as poor yet enriching many;
as having nothing yet possessing everything.

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and I am completing in my flesh what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for His body, that is, the church.

In my experience, those who plow injustice
and those who sow trouble reap the same.

His bones may be full of youthful vigor,
but will lie down with him in the grave.

While Elisha was still speaking with them, the messenger came down to him. Then he said, “This disaster is from the Lord. Why should I wait for the Lord any longer?”

How sad for me!
For I am like one who—

After all that has happened to us because of our evil deeds and terrible guilt—though You, our God, have punished us less than our sins deserve and have allowed us to survive—

And He said, “Abba, Father! All things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”

After all that has happened to us because of our evil deeds and terrible guilt—though You, our God, have punished us less than our sins deserve and have allowed us to survive—

He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve
or repaid us according to our offenses.

After they had inflicted many blows on them, they threw them in jail, ordering the jailer to keep them securely guarded. Then she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, shut him in, and left. She summoned her husband and said, "Please send me one of the servants and one of the donkeys, so I can hurry to the man of God and then come back." But he said, "Why go to him today? It's neither New Moon or Sabbath." She replied, "Everything is all right." Then she saddled the donkey and said to her servant, "Hurry, don't slow the pace for me unless I tell you." So she set out and went to the man of God at Mount Carmel. When the man of God saw her at a distance, he said to his attendant Gehazi, "Look, there's the Shunammite woman. Run out to meet her and ask, 'Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your son all right?' " And she answered, "Everything's all right." When she came up to the man of God at the mountain, she clung to his feet. Gehazi came to push her away, but the man of God said, "Leave her alone-she is in severe anguish, and the Lord has hidden it from me. He hasn't told me." Then she said, "Did I ask my lord for a son? Didn't I say, 'Do not deceive me?' " So Elisha said to Gehazi, "Tuck your mantle under your belt, take my staff with you, and go. If you meet anyone, don't [stop to] greet him, and if a man greets you, don't answer him. Then place my staff on the boy's face." The boy's mother said [to Elisha], "As the Lord lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you." So he got up and followed her. Gehazi went ahead of them and placed the staff on the boy's face, but there was no sound or sign of life, so he went back to meet Elisha and told him, "The boy didn't wake up." When Elisha got to the house, he discovered the boy lying dead on his bed. So he went in, closed the door behind the two of them, and prayed to the Lord. Then he went up and lay on the boy: he put mouth to mouth, eye to eye, hand to hand. While he bent down over him, the boy's flesh became warm. Elisha got up, went into the house, and paced back and forth. Then he went up and bent down over him again. The boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes. Elisha called Gehazi and said, "Call the Shunammite woman." He called her and she came. Then Elisha said, "Pick up your son." She came, fell at his feet, and bowed to the ground; she picked up her son and left.

Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu each took his own firepan, put fire in it, placed incense on it, and presented unauthorized fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them [to do]. Then flames leaped from the Lord's presence and burned them to death before the Lord. So Moses said to Aaron, "This is what the Lord meant when He said: I will show My holiness to those who are near Me, and I will reveal My glory before all the people." But Aaron remained silent.

But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I’ll go to him, but he will never return to me.”

Yet when they were sick,
my clothing was sackcloth;
I humbled myself with fasting,
and my prayer was genuine.

Then the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting. No diversions were brought to him, and he could not sleep.
