And when he came in, he said unto them, Why make you this commotion, and weep? the child is not dead, but sleeps.

Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer from them that hate me, you that lift me up from the gates of death:

And I say also unto you, That you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hades shall not prevail against it.

Have the gates of death been revealed unto you? or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?

Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for! Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off! For when we were in the flesh, the passions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
