be shepherds of the flock of God that is among you, not as though you had to but of your own free will, not from the motive of personal profit but freely,
Continue to obey and to be submissive to your leaders, for they are ever watching in defense of your souls, as men who will have to give account of their trust. Treat them in this way, so that they may work with joy and not with grief.
But I beg you, brothers, to keep on the lookout for those who stir up divisions and put hindrances in your way, in opposition to the instruction that you had, and always avoid them.
So the pastor must be a man above reproach, must have only one wife, must be temperate, sensible, well-behaved, hospitable, skillful in teaching;
The things you learned from me before many witnesses you must commit to trustworthy men who will be competent to teach others too.
Make it your habit to pay close attention to yourself and your teaching. Persevere in these things, for if you do you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.
and not as domineering over those in your charge but proving yourselves models for the flock to imitate;
We beg you, brothers, to practice showing respect to those who labor among you, who are your leaders in the Lord's work, and who advise you; continue to hold them in the highest esteem for the sake of the work they do. Practice living at peace with one another.
So give him a hearty Christian welcome and hold in honor men like him,
Elders who do their duties well should be considered as deserving twice the salary they get especially those who keep on toiling in preaching and teaching.
Now I beg you, brothers -- you know that the family of Stephanas were the first converts in Greece, and that they have devoted themselves to the service of God's people -- I beg you to put yourselves under leaders like these, and under anyone who cooperates with you, and labors hard.
Just so the Lord has issued orders that those who preach the good news shall get their living out of it.
Stay on at the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the workman deserves his support. Do not keep moving about from house to house.

Pray for me, for I am sure that I have a clear conscience, and in everything I want to live a noble life.
So give him a hearty Christian welcome and hold in honor men like him, because he came near dying for the sake of the Lord's work and risked his life to make up for your lack of opportunity to minister to me.
but still you did not scorn the test my illness made of you, nor did you spurn me for it; on the contrary, you welcomed me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus Himself.
You must not forget your former leaders, for it was they who brought you the message of God. Consider how they closed their lives; imitate their faith.

As we have gifts that differ in accordance with the favor God has shown us, if it is that of preaching, let it be done in proportion to our faith; or of practical service, in the field of service; or of a teacher, in the field of teaching; or of one who encourages others, in the field of encouragement; or one who gives his money, with liberality; or one who leads others, with earnestness; or one who does deeds of charity, with cheerfulness.
There are varieties of gifts, but the Spirit is the same in all; there are varieties of service, but the Lord to be served is the same; there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who does all things by putting energy in us all.read more.
To each of us is given a special spiritual illumination for the common good. To one, wise speech is given by the Spirit; to another, by the same Spirit, intelligent speech is given; to another, through union with the same Spirit, faith; to another, by one and the same Spirit, power to cure the sick; to another, power for working wonders; to another, prophetic insight; to another, the power to discriminate between the true Spirit and false spirits; to another, various ecstatic utterances; and to another, the power to explain them. But the one and same Spirit accomplishes all these achievements, and apportions power to each of us as He chooses.
But in accordance with the measure of Christ's gift, His favor has been bestowed upon each one of us.
For you, brothers, were called to freedom; only you must not let your freedom be an excuse for the gratification of your lower nature, but in love be slaves to one another.
In brotherly love be affectionate to one another, in personal honors put one another to the fore,
Stop owing anybody anything, except the obligation to love one another, for whoever practices loving others has perfectly satisfied the law.
So as God's own chosen people, consecrated and dearly loved, you must once for all clothe yourselves with tenderheartedness, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience; you must keep on forbearing one another and freely forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; just as the Lord has freely forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these qualities put on love, which is the tie of perfection that binds us together.
May the Lord make you increase and overflow in love for one another and for all men, as my love for you does,
Since you have purified your souls by obeying the truth, in sincere love for the brotherhood you must love one another heartily and fervently,
His command is this, that we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and practice loving one another, just as He commanded us to do.
with perfect humility and gentleness, with patience, lovingly bearing with one another,
Let us stop being ambitious for honors, so challenging one another, envying one another.
You younger men, on your part, must be submissive to the elders. And you must all put on the servant's apron of humility to one another, because God opposes the haughty but bestows His unmerited favor on the humble.
We beg you, brothers, continue to warn the shirkers, to cheer the faint-hearted, to hold up the weak, and to be patient with everybody.
Stop muttering against one another, brothers, so as to keep from being judged yourselves. Look! The Judge is standing at the very door.
Therefore, practice receiving one another into full Christian fellowship, just as Christ has so received you to Himself.
