For we who believe shall enter into rest, as He said above, "So I sware in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest:" though the works of creation were finished from the foundation of the world: for it is thus said concerning the seventh day, "And God rested the seventh day from all his works."
For if Joshua had given them the rest, He would not afterwards have spoken of another day.

seeing it is a righteous thing with God to render affliction to those that afflict you; and to you, who are in trouble, rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven,

And white robes were given to each of them, and it was told them to rest a little while longer, till the number of their fellow-servants, and their brethren that should be killed as they were, should be complete.

Let us therefore fear least a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of us should seem to fall short of it: for we are graciously offered it, as they also were. But the word, which they heard, did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some are to enter into it, and they to whom it was at first offered did not enter because of their unbelief, He appoints a certain day, called To-day, saying by David so long after, (as it is recorded) "To-day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts." For if Joshua had given them the rest, He would not afterwards have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest for the people of God: for he that is entered into his rest, hath also himself ceased from his works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, least any one fall after the same example of unbelief.
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall be death no more, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
for they can die no more, being like the angels: and they are the children of God as being the children of the resurrection.
And not only others, but those also who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit the redemption of our body.
Then will be the end, when He shall have delivered up the kingdom to God even the Father; when He shall have abolished all rule, and all authority, and power.
They shall hunger no more, nor thirst any more, nor shall the sun nor any violent heat fall upon them. For the Lamb, that is in the midst of the throne, shall feed them, and shall lead them to fountains of living waters: and God will wipe off every tear from their eyes.
And every curse shall cease: and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall serve Him.
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, least any one fall after the same example of unbelief.
