Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, so death passed upon all men, for to that all have sinned:
And which of you by all his thought can add one cubit to his stature?
(though ye know not what will be on the morrow; for what is your life? a vapor, which appeareth for a little while, and then vanisheth away:) whereas ye ought to say,
but if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain: and if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor:
And I heard a voice from heaven, saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead, that die in the Lord, from henceforth: yea, saith the Spirit, for they rest from their labors and their works do follow them.
Having thus answered them, He afterwards saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus is asleep; but I am going to awake him. Therefore his disciples said, Lord, if he sleep, he will do well. But Jesus spake of his death; though they thought that He was speaking of the refreshment of sleep.
and when He was come in, He saith unto them, Why do ye take on thus and weep? the child is not dead, but asleep.
Now David having served his own generation according to the will of God, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption: but He whom God raised,
after that He appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain yet alive, but some are fallen asleep.
For this we tell you in the word of the Lord, that we who shall be living and remain to the coming of the Lord, shall not be before those that are asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with acclamation, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we who are living and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we for ever be with the Lord.
Behold, I tell you a mystery: we shall not all sleep; but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trumpet (for the trumpet shall sound) and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed:
For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus saith unto him, It is as thou hast said: and I tell you, hereafter ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.
And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
And then shall they see the Son of man coming, as on a cloud, with power and great glory.
who said, Ye men of Galilee, why do ye stand gazing up to heaven? This Jesus who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in the manner ye have seen Him going into heaven.
so Christ, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear the second time without sin, to those who are waiting for Him, unto salvation.
But of THAT day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only:
But of THAT day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.
therefore be ye also ready; for the Son of man cometh at a season that ye think not of.
"Behold, I come as a thief: blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, that he may not walk naked, and his shame be seen."
For the Son of man will come in the glory of his father, with his angels, and then he will recompense every one according to his practice.
So when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon his glorious throne: and all nations shall be assembled before Him; and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides the sheep from the goats:
And as I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself, that where I am, ye may also be.
Wherefore judge nothing before the time; even until the Lord come, who will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every one have praise from God.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with acclamation, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we who are living and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we for ever be with the Lord.
And when the sovereign Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive an unfading crown of glory.
Beloved, we are now the children of God, but it doth not yet appear what we shall be: we know however, that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.
And now, little children, abide, I say, in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and may not be ashamed before Him at his coming.
Watch ye therefore; for ye know not when the master of the house cometh: (in the evening, or at midnight, or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning:)
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out: that seasons of refreshing may come upon you from the presence of the Lord; and He may send Jesus Christ, who was before preached unto you:
I charge thee before God, who giveth life to all, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed a good confession before Pontius Pilate, that thou keep this commandment, unspotted and blameless, till the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness,
Wonder not at this; for the time is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth, they that have done good to the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil to the resurrection of damnation.
having hope in God, (which they themselves also expect) that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
And this is the will of Him that sent me, that every one who looketh attentively at the Son, and so believeth on Him, may have eternal life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Jesus then told her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth on me, though he were dead, shall live again.
knowing that He, who raised up the Lord Jesus, will raise up us also by Jesus, and present us with you.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with acclamation, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;
and shall come forth, they that have done good to the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil to the resurrection of damnation.
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life everlasting.
So also will be the resurrection of the dead. Our body is sown in corruption, it is raised incorruptible: it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown an animal body, it is raised a spiritual body: for there is an animal body, and there is a spiritual body.
But this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor doth what is corruptible inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: we shall not all sleep; but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trumpet (for the trumpet shall sound) and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed:read more.
for this corruptible body must put on incorruption, and this mortal body must be clothed with immortality.
And as it is appointed to men once to die, and after this the judgement;
And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged by the things written in the books, according to their works.
For neither doth the Father judge any one, but hath committed all judgement to the Son;
And He commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is He who is appointed by God to be judge of the living and of the dead.
Because He hath fixed a day, in which He will judge the world in righteousness, by that man whom He hath appointed thereto; having given assurance of it to all men, by raising Him from the dead.
I am the first and the last, who live, though I was dead; and behold, I am alive for ever and ever, Amen, and have the keys of hades and of death.
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word, that I have spoken, will condemn him at the last day.
and to you, who are in trouble, rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven, with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, taking vengeance on those who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
But the heavens and the earth, that now are, by the same Word are kept in store, reserved unto fire on the day of judgement and destruction of ungodly men.
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the lake of fire.
Verily, verily I say unto you, he, that heareth my word, and believeth in Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come under condemnation; but is passed from death to life.
He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not, is already condemned; because he hath not believed on the name of the only-begotten Son of God.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath set me free from the law of sin and death.
For we must all appear before the tribunal of Christ, that every one may receive for the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it were good or bad.
