But sin taking occasion by the commandment wrought in me all manner of concupiscence: for without the law sin was dead.
and avoid them; for such people serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by a soothing address and good words deceive the hearts of the innocent.

For all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but of the world.
but if ye have bitter envy and strife in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth; this is not the wisdom, that cometh down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and diabolical: for where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

Whence come wars and fightings among you? Come they not hence? even of your carnal appetites making war in your bodies? Ye desire, and ye have not: ye are envious, and jealous, and cannot obtain: ye fight and contend; but ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask wickedly; that ye may spend it in your pleasures.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, such as, adultery, fornication, uncleanness,
Neither let us commit whoredom, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
when I come again, my God should humble me among you, and I should be grieved for many of those who have sinned heretofore, and have not repented of the impurity, and fornication, and lewdness which they have practised.

your gold and silver is cankered, and their rust shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh like fire: ye have been treasuring them up for these last days. who subvert whole families, teaching what they ought not, for shameful gain:
who, being past feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to commit all uncleanness with greediness.
Therefore God gave them up to infamous passions: for even their women changed the natural use into that which is unnatural, and the men likewise, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust to one another, men with men committing shame, and receiving in themselves the recompence of their error which they deserved. And as they were not careful to acknowledge God, God gave them up to an undiscerning mind to do things that were not fit to be done:read more.

But this know, that in the last days there will be difficult times; for men will be selfish, covetous, arrogant, proud, blasphemers, undutiful to parents, ungrateful, unholy, without natural affection, perfidious, false accusers, intemperate, savage, enemies to the good, traitors,read more.

And he said, This I will do: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will bestow all my products and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast plenty of goods laid up for many years, take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night shall thy soul be required of thee; then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided?read more.
So is he that heapeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God.
And not many days after the younger son gathered all together and went abroad into a distant country, and there squandered away his substance by living luxuriously. And when he had spent all, there happen'd a grievous famine in that country, and he began to be in want. Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may experience what is the good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

But put on the Lord Jesus, and make not provision for the flesh to gratify its irregular desires.
And they, that are Christ's, have crucified the flesh with it's passions and desires.
For the grace of God, that bringeth salvation, hath appeared to all men; teaching us that denying ungodliness, and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and righteously, and piously in this present world;
For they who are after the flesh, mind the things of the flesh; but they who are led by the Spirit, do mind spiritual things.
as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts in your ignorance:
that he should no longer live the rest of his time in the flesh according to the lusts of men, but after the will of God.
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification: that ye should abstain from fornication, and that every one of you should possess his vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, like the heathens who know not God.
And every one that enters the lists is temperate in all things: they indeed do it that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible one. I therefore so run, not as unobserved: I so fight, not as one that beateth the air: but I mortify my body and bring it into subjection, least after having preached to others, I myself should be rejected.
But the end of all things draws nigh: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer:
and to fortitude knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience piety;
Mortify therefore your members that are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, disorderly passion, evil concupiscence, and insatiable desire, which is indeed idolatry:
but I tell you, that whosoever looketh on a woman, so as to lust after her, hath already debauched her in his heart. And therefore if thy right eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one part of thee perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell:
Dearly beloved, I exhort you as strangers and sojourners here, to abstain from carnal lusts, which war against the soul:
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only abuse not this liberty for an occasion to indulge the flesh, but by mutual love serve one another.
If all things be lawful for me, yet all things are not expedient: all things may be lawful for me, but all things do not edify. Let no one seek his own only, but every one another's benefit.
Do nothing through strife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind each esteeming others better than themselves. Look not every one to his own interests only, but every one also to the concerns of others.
But Zaccheus stood up and said unto Jesus, Behold, Lord, the half of my substance I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any one wrongfully, I restore him fourfold.
