and having sent them to Bethlehem, said, Go, search out accurately concerning the child, and when ye shall have found him bring me back word, so that I also may come and do him homage.
And the tempter coming up to him said, If thou be Son of God, speak, that these stones may become loaves of bread.
Blessed are ye when they may reproach and persecute you, and say every wicked thing against you, lying, for my sake.
Let your light thus shine before men, so that they may see your upright works, and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.
that ye may be the sons of your Father who is in the heavens; for he makes his sun rise on evil and good, and sends rain on just and unjust.
When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
so that thine alms may be in secret, and thy Father who sees in secret will render it to thee.
And when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, downcast in countenance; for they disfigure their faces, so that they may appear fasting to men: verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Judge not, that ye may not be judged;
And Jesus says to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven roosting-places; but the Son of man has not where he may lay his head.
But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (then he says to the paralytic,) Rise up, take up thy bed and go to thy house.
All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son but the Father, nor does any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom the Son may be pleased to reveal him.
But when even was come, his disciples came to him saying, The place is desert, and much of the day time already gone by; dismiss the crowds, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.
But that we may not be an offence to them, go to the sea and cast a hook, and take the first fish that comes up, and when thou hast opened its mouth thou wilt find a stater; take that and give it to them for me and thee.
But if he do not hear thee, take with thee one or two besides, that every matter may stand upon the word of two witnesses or of three.
Again I say to you, that if two of you shall agree on the earth concerning any matter, whatsoever it may be that they shall ask, it shall come to them from my Father who is in the heavens.
And lo, one coming up said to him, Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have life eternal?
and to them he said, Go also ye into the vineyard, and whatsoever may be just I will give you. And they went their way.
They say to him, Because no man has hired us. He says to them, Go also ye into the vineyard and whatsoever may be just ye shall receive.
And he said to her, What wilt thou? She says to him, Speak the word that these my two sons may sit, one on thy right hand and one on thy left in thy kingdom.
They say to him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
all things therefore, whatever they may tell you, do and keep. But do not after their works, for they say and do not,
Blind Pharisee, make clean first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that their outside also may become clean.
But pray that your flight may not be in winter time nor on sabbath:
Verily I say to you, Wheresoever these glad tidings may be preached in the whole world, that also which this woman has done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
But all this is come to pass that the scriptures of the prophets may be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him and fled.
And he says to them, Let us go elsewhere into the neighbouring country towns, that I may preach there also, for for this purpose am I come forth.
But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, he says to the paralytic,
Verily I say unto you, that all sins shall be forgiven to the sons of men, and all the injurious speeches with which they may speak injuriously;
that beholding they may behold and not see, and hearing they may hear and not understand, lest it may be, they should be converted and they should be forgiven.
and they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine that we may enter into them.
and he besought him much, saying, My little daughter is at extremity; I pray that thou shouldest come and lay thy hands upon her so that she may be healed, and may live.
send them away that they may go into the country and villages around, and buy themselves bread, for they have not anything they can eat.
And he said to them, Well do ye set aside the commandment of God, that ye may observe what is delivered by yourselves to keep.
And as he went forth into the way, a person ran up to him, and kneeling to him asked him, Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
And there come to him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying to him, Teacher, we would that whatsoever we may ask thee, thou wouldst do it for us.
And they said to him, Give to us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy glory.
And Jesus answering says to him, What wilt thou that I shall do to thee? And the blind man said to him, Rabboni, that I may see.
And when ye stand praying, forgive if ye have anything against any one, that your Father also who is in the heavens may forgive you your offences.
Should we give, or should we not give? But he knowing their hypocrisy said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a denarius that I may see it.
And pray that it may not be in winter time;

And wheresoever he enters, say to the master of the house, The Teacher says, Where is my guest-chamber where I may eat the passover with my disciples?
I was daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye did not seize me; but it is that the scriptures may be fulfilled.
And when they had mocked him, they took the purple off him, and put his own clothes on him; and they lead him out that they may crucify him.
Let the Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and may believe. And they that were crucified with him reproached him.
(and even a sword shall go through thine own soul;) so that the thoughts may be revealed from many hearts.
But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, he said to the paralysed man, I say to thee, Arise, and take up thy little couch and go to thine house.
And if ye lend to those from whom ye hope to receive, what thank is it to you? for even sinners lend to sinners that they may receive the like.
And his disciples asked him saying, What may this parable be?
And he said, To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest in parables, in order that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.
But those by the wayside are those who hear; then comes the devil and takes away the word from their heart that they may not believe and be saved.
And no one having lighted a lamp covers it with a vessel or puts it under a couch, but sets it on a lamp-stand, that they who enter in may see the light.
And as many as may not receive you, going forth from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a witness against them.
But the day began to decline, and the twelve came and said to him, Send away the crowd that they may go into the villages around, and into the fields, and lodge and find victuals, for here we are in a desert place.
And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes and the birds of the heaven roosting-places, but the Son of man has not where he may lay his head.
And he said to them, The harvest indeed is great, but the workmen few; supplicate therefore the Lord of the harvest that he may send out workmen into his harvest.
And into whatsoever city ye may enter and they receive you, eat what is set before you,
But into whatsoever city ye may have entered and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say,
Now Martha was distracted with much serving, and coming up she said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Speak to her therefore that she may help me.
But no one having lit a lamp sets it in secret, nor under the corn-measure, but on the lamp-stand, that they who enter in may see the light.
that the blood of all the prophets which has been poured out from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation,
and ye like men who wait their own lord whenever he may leave the wedding, that when he comes and knocks, they may open to him immediately.
But when thou hast been invited, go and put thyself down in the last place, that when he who has invited thee comes, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have honour before all that are lying at table with thee;
And he said also to him that had invited him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsfolk, nor rich neighbours, lest it may be they also should invite thee in return, and a recompense be made thee.
And the lord said to the bondman, Go out into the ways and fences and compel to come in, that my house may be filled;
I know what I will do, that when I shall have been removed from the stewardship I may be received into their houses.
And I say to you, Make to yourselves friends with the mammon of unrighteousness, that when it fails ye may be received into the eternal tabernacles.
And he crying out said, Father Abraham, have compassion on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering in this flame.
for I have five brothers, so that he may earnestly testify to them, that they also may not come to this place of torment.
But will he not say to him, Prepare what I shall sup on, and gird thyself and serve me that I may eat and drink; and after that thou shalt eat and drink?
at any rate because this widow annoys me I will avenge her, that she may not by perpetually coming completely harass me.
What wilt thou that I shall do to thee? And he said, Lord, that I may see.
But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may become ours.
He will come and destroy those husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it they said, May it never be!
for these are days of avenging, that all the things that are written may be accomplished.
Watch therefore, praying at every season, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things which are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare the passover for us, that we may eat it.
and ye shall say to the master of the house, The Teacher says to thee, Where is the guest-chamber where I may eat the passover with my disciples?
that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
They said therefore to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
His mother says to the servants, Whatever he may say to you, do.
that every one who believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal.
For God has not sent his Son into the world that he may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through him.
For every one that does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light that his works may not be shewn as they are;
but he that practises the truth comes to the light, that his works may be manifested that they have been wrought in God.
The woman says to him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst nor come here to draw.
He that reaps receives wages and gathers fruit unto life eternal, that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together.
For the Father loves the Son and shews him all things which he himself does; and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may wonder.
that all may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He who honours not the Son, honours not the Father who has sent him.
Jesus then, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a great crowd is coming to him, says to Philip, Whence shall we buy loaves that these may eat?
Philip answered him, Loaves for two hundred denarii are not sufficient for them, that each may have some little portion.
And when they had been filled, he says to his disciples, Gather together the fragments which are over and above, that nothing may be lost.
They said therefore to him, What should we do that we may work the works of God?
They said therefore to him, What sign then doest thou that we may see and believe thee? what dost thou work?
This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.
His brethren therefore said to him, Remove hence and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou doest;
If a man receives circumcision on sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be violated, are ye angry with me because I have made a man entirely sound on sabbath?
He answered and said, And who is he, Lord, that I may believe on him?
