1 Now the apostles and the brothers in Judaea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.

5 "I was in the town of Joppa at prayer," he said, "and in a trance I saw a vision ??a vessel coming down like a huge sheet lowered from heaven by the four corners. It came down to me,
5 “(E)I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw (F)a vision, an (d)object coming down like a great sheet lowered by four corners from (e)the sky; and it came right down to me,
5 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
5 “I(C) was in the town of Joppa praying, and I saw, in a visionary state, an object that resembled a large sheet coming down, being lowered by its four corners from heaven, and it came to me.
5 "I was in the town of Joppa praying when in a trance I saw a vision: Something like a large linen sheet descended down from heaven, lowered by its four corners, and it came right down to me.
6 and when I looked steadily at it, I noted the quadrupeds of the earth, the wild beasts, the creeping things and the wild birds.
6 and when I had fixed my gaze on it and was observing it (f)I saw the four-footed animals of the earth and the wild beasts and the (g)crawling creatures and the birds of the (h)air.
6 Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

8 I said, 'No, no, my Lord; nothing common or unclean has ever passed my lips.'

8 “‘No, Lord!’ I said. ‘For nothing common or ritually unclean has ever entered my mouth!’
8 But I replied, "Absolutely not, Lord, for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth!'
9 But a voice answered me for the second time out of heaven, 'What God has cleansed, you must not regard as common.'
9 But a voice from heaven answered a second time, ‘(G)What God has cleansed, no longer (k)consider unholy.’
9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
9 But a voice answered from heaven a second time, ‘What God has made clean, you must not call common.’
9 Then the voice from heaven answered a second time, "You must stop calling common what God has made clean!'
10 This happened three times, and then the whole thing was drawn back into heaven.

11 At that very moment three men reached the house where I was living, sent to me from Caesarea.

13 He related to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying, 'Send to Joppa for Simon who is surnamed Peter;

13 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;

16 and I remembered the saying of the Lord, that 'John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the holy Spirit.'
16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, ‘(P)John baptized with water, but you will be baptized (o)with the Holy Spirit.’
16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

16 Then I remembered what the Lord had said: "John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'
17 Well then, if God has given them exactly the same gift as he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I ??how could I try to thwart God?"
17 Therefore if (Q)God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, (R)who was I that I could (p)stand in God’s way?”
17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
17 Therefore, if God gave them the same gift that He also gave to us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I possibly hinder God?”(H)
17 Now if God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, who was I to try to stop God?"
18 On hearing this they desisted and glorified God, saying, "So God has actually allowed the Gentiles to repent and live!"
18 When they heard this, they (q)quieted down and (S)glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the (T)repentance that leads to life.”
18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
18 When they heard this they became silent. Then they glorified God, saying, “So God has granted repentance resulting in life(d) even to the Gentiles!”(I)
18 When they heard this, they calmed down, and praised God by saying, "So God has given repentance that leads to life even to gentiles."
19 Now those who had been scattered by the trouble which arose over Stephen made their way as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, but they preached the word to none except Jews.
19 (U)So then those who were scattered because of the (r)persecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way (s)to (V)Phoenicia and (W)Cyprus and (X)Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone.
19 Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.

21 the strong hand of the Lord was with them, and a large number believed and turned to the Lord.

22 Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.

23 When he came and saw the grace of God he rejoiced, and encouraged them all to hold by the Lord with heartfelt purpose

23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

23 When he arrived, he rejoiced to see what the grace of God had done, and with hearty determination he kept encouraging all of them to remain faithful to the Lord,
24 (for he was a good man, full of the holy Spirit and faith). Considerable numbers of people were brought in for the Lord.

28 one of whom, named Agabus, showed by the Spirit that a severe famine was about to visit the whole world (the famine which occurred in the reign of Claudius).
28 One of them named (AR)Agabus stood up and began to indicate (af)by the Spirit that there would certainly be a great famine (AS)all over the (ag)world. (ah)And this took place in the reign of (AT)Claudius.
28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

29 So the disciples put aside money, as each of them was able to afford it, for a contribution to be sent to the brothers in Judaea.
29 And in the proportion that any of (AU)the disciples had means, each of them determined to send a contribution for the (ai)relief of (AV)the brethren living in Judea.
