2 While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.

18 And for about 40 years He put up with them(c) in the wilderness;(R)

25 and as John was fulfilling the course, he said, Whom me do ye suppose to be? I am not he, but, lo, he doth come after me, of whom I am not worthy to loose the sandal of his feet.

25 "And while John was completing his course, he kept saying, 'What do you suppose that I am? I am not He. But behold, one is coming after me the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.'

25 And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

25 Then as John was completing his life’s work, he said, ‘Who do you think I am? I am not the One. But look! Someone is coming after me, and I am not worthy to untie the sandals on His feet.’(Z)

26 'Men, brethren, sons of the race of Abraham, and those among you fearing God, to you was the word of this salvation sent,

26 "Brethren, sons of Abraham's family, and those among you who fear God, to us the message of this salvation has been sent.

26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

26 “Brothers, sons of Abraham’s race, and those among you who fear God, the message of this salvation has been sent to us.(AA)

26 "My brothers, descendants of Abraham's family, and those among you who fear God, it is to us that the message of this salvation has been sent.

27 for those dwelling in Jerusalem, and their chiefs, this one not having known, also the voices of the prophets, which every sabbath are being read -- having judged him -- did fulfil,

27 "For those who live in Jerusalem, and their rulers, recognizing neither Him nor the utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning Him.

27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

27 For the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers, since they did not recognize Him or the voices of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, have fulfilled their words(g) by condemning Him.(AB)

27 For the people who live in Jerusalem and their leaders, not knowing who Jesus was, condemned him and so fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.

28 and no cause of death having found, they did ask of Pilate that he should be slain,

28 "And though they found no ground for putting Him to death, they asked Pilate that He be executed.

28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

28 Though they found no grounds for the death penalty, they asked Pilate to have Him killed.(AC)

28 Although they found no reason to sentence him to death, they asked Pilate to have him executed.

29 and when they did complete all the things written about him, having taken him down from the tree, they laid him in a tomb;

29 "When they had carried out all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb.

29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.

29 When they had fulfilled all that had been written about Him, they took Him down from the tree and put Him in a tomb.(AD)

29 When they had finished doing everything that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and placed him in a tomb.

30 and God did raise him out of the dead,

30 "But God raised Him from the dead;

30 But God raised him from the dead:

30 But God raised Him from the dead,(AE)

30 But God raised him from the dead,

31 and he was seen for many days of those who did come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

31 and for many days He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very ones who are now His witnesses to the people.

31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

31 and He appeared for many days to those who came with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now His witnesses to the people.(AF)

31 and for many days he appeared to those who had come with him to Jerusalem from Galilee. These are now his witnesses to the people.

32 And we to you do proclaim good news -- that the promise made unto the fathers,

32 "And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers,

32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

32 And we ourselves proclaim to you the good news of the promise that was made to our ancestors.(AG)

32 We're telling you the good news: What God promised our ancestors

33 God hath in full completed this to us their children, having raised up Jesus, as also in the second Psalm it hath been written, My Son thou art -- I to-day have begotten thee.

33 that God has fulfilled this promise to our children in that He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, 'YOU ARE MY SON; TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU.'

33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

33 God has fulfilled this for us, their children, by raising up Jesus, as it is written in the second Psalm:You are My Son;today I have become Your Father.(h)(AH)(i)

33 he has fulfilled for us, their descendants, by raising Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm, "You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.'

34 And that He did raise him up out of the dead, no more to return to corruption, he hath said thus -- I will give to you the faithful kindnesses of David;

34 "As for the fact that He raised Him up from the dead, no longer to return to decay, He has spoken in this way: 'I WILL GIVE YOU THE HOLY and SURE blessings OF DAVID.'

34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

34 Since He raised Him from the dead, never to return to decay, He has spoken in this way, I will grant you the faithful covenant blessings(j)made to David.(AI)(k)

34 God raised him from the dead, never to experience decay, as he said, "I'll give you the holy promises made to David.'

35 wherefore also in another place he saith, Thou shalt not give Thy kind One to see corruption,

35 "Therefore He also says in another Psalm, 'YOU WILL NOT ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY.'

35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

35 Therefore He also says in another passage, You will not allow Your Holy One to see decay.(AJ)(l)

35 In another Psalm he says, "You will not let your Holy One experience decay.'

36 for David, indeed, his own generation having served by the will of God, did fall asleep, and was added unto his fathers, and saw corruption,

36 "For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep, and was laid among his fathers and underwent decay;

36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

36 For David, after serving his own generation in God’s plan, fell asleep,(AK) was buried with his fathers, and decayed.(AL)

36 Now David, after he had served God's purpose in his own generation, died and was buried with his ancestors, and so he experienced decay.

37 but he whom God did raise up, did not see corruption.

37 but He whom God raised did not undergo decay.

37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

37 But the One God raised up did not decay.

37 However, the man whom God raised did not experience decay.

38 'Let it therefore be known to you, men, brethren, that through this one to you is the forgiveness of sins declared,

38 "Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,

38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

38 Therefore, let it be known to you, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you,(AM)

38 "Therefore, brothers, you must understand that through him the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,

39 and from all things from which ye were not able in the law of Moses to be declared righteous, in this one every one who is believing is declared righteous;

39 and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.

39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

39 and everyone who believes in Him is justified from everything that you could not be justified from through the law of Moses.(AN)

39 and that everyone who believes in him is justified and freed from everything that kept you from being justified by the Law of Moses.

40 see, therefore, it may not come upon you that hath been spoken in the prophets:

40 "Therefore take heed, so that the thing spoken of in the Prophets may not come upon you:

40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

40 So beware that what is said in the prophets does not happen to you:

40 So be careful that what the prophets said doesn't happen to you:

41 See, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish, because a work I -- I do work in your days, a work in which ye may not believe, though any one may declare it to you.'

41 'BEHOLD, YOU SCOFFERS, AND MARVEL, AND PERISH; FOR I AM ACCOMPLISHING A WORK IN YOUR DAYS, A WORK WHICH YOU WILL NEVER BELIEVE, THOUGH SOMEONE SHOULD DESCRIBE IT TO YOU.'"

41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

41 Look, you scoffers,marvel and vanish away,because I am doing a work in your days,a work that you will never believe,even if someone were to explain it to you.(AO)(m)

41 "Look, you mockers! Be amazed and die! Since I am performing an action in your days, one that you would not believe even if someone told you!'"

Response To The Message In Pisidian Antioch

42 And having gone forth out of the synagogue of the Jews, the nations were calling upon them that on the next sabbath these sayings may be spoken to them,

42 As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people kept begging that these things might be spoken to them the next Sabbath.

42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

42 As they(n) were leaving, the people(o) begged that these matters be presented to them the following Sabbath.

42 As Paul and Barnabas were leaving, the people kept urging them to tell them the same things the next Sabbath.

43 and the synagogue having been dismissed, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes did follow Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were persuading them to remain in the grace of God.

43 Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God.

43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

43 After the synagogue had been dismissed, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who were speaking with them and persuading them to continue in the grace of God.(AP)

43 When the meeting of the synagogue broke up, many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who kept talking to them and urging them to continue in the grace of God.

Paul Turns To The Gentiles

44 And on the coming sabbath, almost all the city was gathered together to hear the word of God,

44 The next Sabbath nearly the whole city assembled to hear the word of the Lord.

44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

44 The following Sabbath almost the whole town assembled to hear the message of the Lord.(p)

44 The next Sabbath almost the whole town gathered to hear the word of the Lord.

45 and the Jews having seen the multitudes, were filled with zeal, and did contradict the things spoken by Paul -- contradicting and speaking evil.

45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming.

45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to oppose what Paul was saying by insulting him.(AQ)

45 But when the Jewish leaders saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to object to the statements made by Paul and even to abuse him.

46 And speaking boldly, Paul and Barnabas said, 'To you it was necessary that first the word of God be spoken, and seeing ye do thrust it away, and do not judge yourselves worthy of the life age-during, lo, we do turn to the nations;

46 Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, "It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.

46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

46 Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said: “It was necessary that God’s message be spoken to you first. But since you reject it and consider yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles!(AR)

46 Then Paul and Barnabas boldly declared, "We had to speak God's word to you first, but since you reject it and consider yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we are now going to turn to the gentiles.

47 for so hath the Lord commanded us: I have set thee for a light of nations -- for thy being for salvation unto the end of the earth.'

47 "For so the Lord has commanded us, 'I HAVE PLACED YOU AS A LIGHT FOR THE GENTILES, THAT YOU MAY BRING SALVATION TO THE END OF THE EARTH.'"

47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us:I have made youa light for the Gentilesto bring salvationto the ends(q)of the earth.(AS)(r)

47 For that is what the Lord ordered us to do: "I have made you a light to the gentiles to be the means of salvation to the very ends of the earth.'"

48 And the nations hearing were glad, and were glorifying the word of the Lord, and did believe -- as many as were appointed to life age-during;

48 When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.

48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
