A Message For Pashhur

¹ When Pashhur the priest, the son of Immer, chief in the house of the LORD, heard Jeremiah preach so steadfastly: ² he smote Jeremiah, and put him in the stocks, that are by the high gate of Benjamin, in the house of the LORD. ³ The next day following, Pashhur brought Jeremiah out of the stocks again. Then said Jeremiah unto him, "The LORD shall call thee no more Pashhur, that is, excellent and increasing; but Magormissabib, that is, fearful and afraid everywhere.
