When the water in the skin was all gone, Hagar abandoned the boy under one of the bushes.

Then God enabled Hagar to see a well of water. She went over and filled the skin with water, and then gave the boy a drink.

God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, "What's wrong, Hagar? So Hagar gave birth to Abram’s son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son Hagar had.


These things are illustrations, for the women represent the two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai and bears children into slavery-this is Hagar. Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.
