And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and the same man was righteous and godly, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him; and it was revealed unto him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death before he may see the Christ of the Lord. And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, His mother; Behold, he is appointed unto the fall and rising of many in Israel, and unto a sign which is spoken against; and a sword shall go through thy soul, in order that the reasonings of many hearts may be revealed.
