Psalm 18

¹ For the music director; by the Lord's servant David, who sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord rescued him from the power of all his enemies, including Saul. He said: "I love you, Lord, my source of strength!

¹ {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD, who spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said,} I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

³ I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

¹⁵ The depths of the sea were exposed; the inner regions of the world were uncovered by your battle cry, Lord, by the powerful breath from your nose.

¹⁵ Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

¹⁷ He rescued me from my strong enemy, from those who hate me, for they were too strong for me.

²⁵ To the holy, you show your gracious love, to the upright, you show yourself upright;

²⁷ For you deliver oppressed people, but you bring down those who have a proud look.

²⁷ For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

²⁷ For You rescue an afflicted people,^(AG)but You humble those with haughty eyes.^(AH)

²⁷ Indeed, you deliver the oppressed, but you bring down those who exalt themselves in their own eyes.

²⁹ Indeed, with your help I can charge against an army; by my God's power I can jump over a wall.

²⁹ For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

²⁹ For by You I can ^(m)(BE)run upon a troop;And by my God I can ^(BF)leap over a wall.

²⁹ With You I can attack a barrier,^(f)and with my God I can leap over a wall.^(AJ)

²⁹ With your help I will run through an army, with help from my God I leap over walls.

³¹ Indeed, who is God besides the Lord? Who is a protector besides our God?

³¹ For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

³¹ For ^(BJ)who is God, but the Lord?And who is a ^(BK)rock, except our God,

³¹ For who is God besides Yahweh?^(AN)And who is a rock? Only our God.^(AO)

³¹ For who is God but the LORD, and who is a Rock other than our God?

³³ He gives me the agility of a deer; he enables me to negotiate the rugged terrain.

³³ He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

³³ He ^(BN)makes my feet like hinds’ feet,And ^(BO)sets me upon my high places.

³³ who makes my feet swift as the deer; who makes me stand on high places;

³⁵ You give me your protective shield; your right hand supports me; your willingness to help enables me to prevail.

³⁵ Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

⁴¹ They cry out, but there is no one to help them; they cry out to the Lord, but he does not answer them.

⁴³ You rescue me from a hostile army; you make me a leader of nations; people over whom I had no authority are now my subjects.

⁴³ Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

⁴³ You have delivered me from the ^(CH)contentions of the people;You have placed me as ^(CI)head of the nations;A ^(CJ)people whom I have not known serve me.

⁴³ You have freed me from the feuds among the people;You have appointed me the head of nations;^(BH)a people I had not known serve me.^(BI)

⁴³ You rescued me from conflict with the people; you made me head of the nations. People who did not know me will serve me.

⁴⁵ foreigners lose their courage; they shake with fear as they leave their strongholds.

⁴⁵ The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.

⁴⁷ The one true God completely vindicates me; he makes nations submit to me.

⁴⁷ It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

⁴⁹ So I will give you thanks before the nations, O Lord! I will sing praises to you!

⁴⁹ Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.
