His humiliation was necessary (1) to execute the purpose of God (Ac 2:23-24; Ps 40:6-8), (2) fulfil the Old Testament types and prophecies, (3) satisfy the law in the room of the guilty (Isa 53; Heb 9:12,15), procure for them eternal redemption, (4) and to show us an example.

Once more the Devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, along with their splendor. He told Jesus, "I will give you all these things if you will bow down and worship me!" Then Jesus told him, "Go away, Satan! Because it is written, "You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.'" So the Devil left him, and angels came and began ministering to him.
Meanwhile, the high priests and the whole Council were looking for false testimony against Jesus in order to have him put to death.
Then they spit in his face and hit him. Some slapped him, saying, "Prophesy to us, you Messiah! Who hit you?"
Later that evening, a rich man arrived from Arimathea. His name was Joseph, and he had become a disciple of Jesus. He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus, and Pilate ordered it to be done.

Then they crucified him. They divided his clothes among themselves by throwing dice to see what each one would get. It was nine in the morning when they crucified him.

But when the appropriate time had come, God sent his Son, born by a woman, born under the Law,

Now when God put everything under him, he left nothing outside his control. However, at the present time we do not yet see everything put under him. But we do see someone who was made a little lower than the angels. He is Jesus, who is crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might experience death for everyone.
thereby becoming like his brothers in every way, so that he could be a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God and could atone for the people's sins. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses. Instead, we have one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet he never sinned.
Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with his own blood he went into the Most Holy Place once for all and secured our eternal redemption.
This is why the Messiah is the mediator of a new covenant; so that those who are called may receive the eternal inheritance promised them, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the offenses committed under the first covenant.
