To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

And Joseph and his mother marveled at those things which were spoken of him.

And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

And Jesus himself was about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, who was the son of Heli,

Who was the son of Matthat, who was the son of Levi, who was the son of Melchi, who was the son of Jannai, who was the son of Joseph,

Who was the son of Simeon, who was the son of Judah, who was the son of Joseph, who was the son of Jonam who was the son of Eliakim,

And all bore him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a member of the council and he was a good man, and just:
