No men were left in Ai or Bethel; they all went out after Israel. They left the city wide open and chased Israel.

And to the sons of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron and its open lands as a city of refuge for the manslayer, and Libnah and its open lands,

and Jattir and its open lands, and Eshtemoa and its open lands,

and Holon and its open lands, and Debir and its open lands,

And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon and its open lands, Geba and its open lands,

And they gave them Shechem and its open lands in mount Ephraim as a city of refuge for the manslayer, and Gezer and its open lands,

and Kibzaim and its open lands, and Beth-horon and its open lands; four cities.

And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh and open lands, Gibbethon and its open lands,

Aijalon and its open lands, Gath-rimmon and its open lands; four cities.

And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Tanach and its open lands, and Gath-rimmon and its open lands; two cities.

And to the sons of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, from the half tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan and its open lands as a city of refuge for the manslayer, and Beesh-terah and its open lands; two cities.

And from the tribe of Issachar, Kishon and its open lands, and Daberath and its open lands,

Jarmuth and its open lands, En-gannim and its open lands; four cities.

And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal and its open lands, and Abdon and its open lands,

Helkath and its open lands, and Rehob and its open lands; four cities

And to the families of the sons of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun: Jokneam and its open lands, and Kartah and its open lands,

Dimnah and its open lands, Nahalal and its open lands; four cities.

And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer and its open lands, and Jahazah and its open lands,

Kedemoth and its open lands, and Mephaath and its open lands; four cities.

And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead and its open lands as a city of refuge for the manslayer, and Mahanaim and its open lands,

Heshbon and its open lands, Jazer and its open lands; four cities in all.

Then Joshua said to them, If you are such a great people, go up into the woodlands, clearing a place there for yourselves in the land of the Perizzites and the Rephaim, if the hill-country of Ephraim is not wide enough for you.

(But the limit of the children of Dan was not wide enough for them; so the children of Dan went up and made war on Leshem and took it, putting it to the sword without mercy, and they took it for their heritage and made a place for themselves there, giving it the name of Leshem-dan, after the name of their father, Dan.)

Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.

When Israel finished slaughtering all the inhabitants of Ai in the open field, in the wilderness where they pursued them, and when all of them had fallen by {the edge of the sword} until they all had perished, all Israel returned [to] Ai and attacked it with {the edge of the sword}.

And they spoke to them in Shiloh, in the land of Canaan, saying, Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses to give cities to us to live in, and their open lands for our cattle.

And the sons of Israel gave to the Levites out of their inheritance these cities and their open lands, at the command of Jehovah:

And the sons of Israel gave by lot to the Levites these cities with their open lands, as Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses.

And they gave them the city of Arba, the father of Anak (it is Hebron) in the hills of Judah, with its open lands around it.

All the cities were ten, and their open lands, for the families of the sons of Kohath that were left.

All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities and their open lands.

All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the sons of Israel were forty-eight cities and their open lands.

These cities were each one with their open lands around them. So it was to all these cities.
