And because He loved your fathers, therefore He chose their seed after them, and brought you out in His sight with His mighty power out of Egypt,

the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were good. And they took wives for themselves from all whom they chose.

Only Jehovah had a delight in your fathers to love them, and He chose their seed after them, you above all people, as it is today.

And Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, and he chose out of all the choice young men of Israel and set in order against the Syrians.
