And therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace, that so the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but also to that which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, (as it is written, "I have made thee a father of many nations,") in the sight of Him whom he believed, even God, who giveth life to the dead, and calleth the things that are not as if they were: who against hope believed, with hope, that he should be the father of many nations, according to that which was said unto him, "So shall thy seed be."


What shall we say then that Abraham our father obtained according to the flesh? for if Abraham were justified by works, he hath something to boast of; but this he hath not before God: for what saith the scripture? "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness." read more.
Now to him that worketh the reward is not reckoned as a favor, but as a debt: but to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness. As David also describeth the blessedness of the man to whom: God imputeth righteousness without works, saying, "Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered: blessed is the man to whom the Lord imputeth not sin." Now is this blessedness upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? for we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness. How then was it accounted to him? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had in uncircumcision: that he might be the father of all that believe though not circumcised, that righteousness may be imputed to them also: and the father of circumcision to those, who not only are of the circumcision, but also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision. For the promise made to Abraham, or to his seed, that he should be heir of the world, was not by the law, but by the righteousness of faith: for if they only that are of the law be heirs, faith is made useless, and the promise is become of no effect. Now the law worketh wrath; for where there is no law, there is no transgression. And therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace, that so the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but also to that which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, (as it is written, "I have made thee a father of many nations,") in the sight of Him whom he believed, even God, who giveth life to the dead, and calleth the things that are not as if they were: who against hope believed, with hope, that he should be the father of many nations, according to that which was said unto him, "So shall thy seed be." And not being weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, being about an hundred years old; nor the deadness of Sarah's womb. He hesitated not at the promise of God through unbelief: but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully persuaded, that what was promised He was able to perform: and therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

As Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness: so ye know that they who believe, are the children of Abraham. And the scripture foreseeing that God would justify the gentiles through faith, preached the gospel to Abraham long ago, saying, "In thee shall all nations be blessed." read more.
So then they that believe, are blessed with believing Abraham.

By faith Abraham when called to go out to a place which he was afterwards to receive for an inheritance obeyed: and went out, though he knew not whither he was going. By faith he sojourned in the land promised him, as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob the heirs with him of the same promise. For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose maker and founder is God.

By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he who had received the promises, offered up his only son; of whom it was told him, that in Isaac shall thy seed be called: concluding that God was able to raise him even from the dead; from whence indeed he had in a manner received him.

consider, Was not our father Abraham justified by works, when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? Thou seest that faith co-operated with his works, and that by his works his faith was perfected. And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness; and he was called the friend of God. read more.

Ye see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. And in like manner also was not the harlot Rahab justified by works, when she entertained the spies, and let them out another way?

so faith, if it have not works, being alone, is dead. But one may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith by thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou dost well: the devils also believe and tremble. read more.

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman: every branch in me that beareth not fruit He taketh away, and every one that beareth fruit, He purgeth, that it may bear more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. read more.

If any one abide not in me, he is cast out as a useless branch and withereth: and they gather them up, and throw them into the fire, and they are burnt. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask what ye will, and it shall be granted you. Herein is my father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; and so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, and I have loved you, continue in my love: and if ye keep my commandments ye will continue in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and continue in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy in you may continue, and that your joy may be full. This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no one than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends: and ye are my friends, if ye do what I command you. I no longer stile you servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth: but I have called you friends; for whatsoever I have heard from my Father, I have made known to you. Ye did not first choose me, but I chose you, and have appointed you to go forth, and bear fruit, and that your fruit should be lasting: that whatsoever ye ask the Father in my name, He may give it you.









that the promise made unto the fathers God hath fulfilled unto us their children, having raised up Jesus again: as it is also written in the second psalm, "Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee." And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to the place of corruption, He hath said thus, "I will give you the sure mercies of David." Wherefore he saith also in another place, Thou wilt not suffer thine holy One to see corruption. read more.
Now David having served his own generation according to the will of God, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption: but He whom God raised, did not see corruption. Be it known therefore unto you, brethren, that through Him is preached unto you the remission of sins: and by Him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

For as many as are of the works of the law, are under the curse; for it is written, Cursed be every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them. And that by the law no one is justified before God is evident; for it is written "The just shall live by faith:"

Then Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: but in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to Him.


But ye, beloved, edifying yourselves in your most holy faith, and praying in the holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

And to this giving all diligence, add to your faith fortitude; and to fortitude knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience piety; and to piety brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection charity. read more.
For if these be in you and abound, they will not suffer you to be idle, nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he, that hath not these, is blind, or short-sighted, having forgot his baptismal purification from his former sins.

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two precepts depend all the law and the prophets.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath set me free from the law of sin and death. For that which was impossible for the law to do, and in which it was weak through the corruption of the flesh, God by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sacrifice for sin, hath done; that is, hath condemned sin in the flesh: read more.
that the righteousness of the law may be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. For they who are after the flesh, mind the things of the flesh; but they who are led by the Spirit, do mind spiritual things. Now to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace: because the carnal mind is an enemy to God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be: and they who are carnal, cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if the Spirit of God dwelleth in you: but if any one hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body indeed is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead, dwelleth in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead, will also restore your mortal bodies to life, by his Spirit that now dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors not to the flesh, to live after the flesh: for if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die; but if by the Spirit ye mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. So that the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and co-heirs with Christ: if so be we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified with Him. And I account the sufferings of this present time not worthy to be set against the glory that shall be revealed to us.

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted themselves to the righteousness which is of God. read more.
For Christ is the end of the law, for righteousness to every believer. For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, "That the man who doth those things shall live by them." But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh thus, "Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven, (that is, to bring Christ down) or, who shall descend into the deep, (that is, to bring up Christ from the dead)" but what saith it? "The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart." This is the word of faith which we preach: that if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart, that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him, shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference of Jew and Greek: for He being Lord of all is bountiful to all that call upon Him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, fidelity, meekness, temperance: against such things there is no law. And they, that are Christ's, have crucified the flesh with it's passions and desires. read more.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

See that no one render evil for evil to any man; but always pursue that which is good, both to each other and to all men. Be always joyful. Pray continually. read more.
In every circumstance be thankful; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Slight not prophesyings: yet try all things, and hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly: and grant that your whole frame, spirit, soul, and body may be kept blameless to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If ye fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, which saith, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well. But if ye partially respect persons, ye commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. For whosoever shall keep the whole law besides, but offend in one point, he is under the penalty of all: read more.
for He that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou do not commit adultery, but committest murder, thou art a transgressor of the law. So speak, and so act, as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. For he shall have judgement without mercy, that hath not shewn mercy: but mercy triumpheth over judgement. What is the advantage, my brethren, if any one say that he has faith, and he hath not works, can faith alone save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food; and one of you say to them, Go in peace, be ye warmed and be ye filled: but ye give them not the necessaries of life, what profit is it to them? so faith, if it have not works, being alone, is dead.
