Ransom » Of a man's life
Shall I ransom them from the power of Sheol (the place of the dead)?
Shall I redeem them from death?
O Sheol, where is your sting?
Compassion is hidden from My eyes [because of their failure to repent].
If a ransom is demanded of him [in return for his life], then he shall give whatever is demanded for the redemption of his life.
“When you take the census of the Israelites, each one shall give a ransom for himself to the Lord when you count them, so that no plague will come on them when you number them.
Verse Concepts
“Do not let wrath entice you into scoffing;
And do not let the greatness and the extent of the ransom turn you aside.
None of them can by any means redeem [either himself or] his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him -- " For the ransom of a life is too costly, and [the price one can pay] can never suffice -- "
He will not accept any ransom [offered to buy him off from demanding full punishment];
Nor will he be satisfied though you offer him many gifts (bribes).
The ransom for a man’s life is his wealth,
But the poor man does not even have to listen to a rebuke or threats [from the envious].

For let not wrath entice you into scorning chastisements; and let not the greatness of the ransom [the suffering, if rightly endured] turn you aside. Will your cry be sufficient to keep you from distress, or will all the force of your strength do it?
