"He that loves father or mother more than Me, is not worthy of Me; and he that loves son or daughter more than Me, is not worthy of Me. These twelve Jesus sent forth, having charged them, saying, "Go not into any way of the gentiles, and enter not into a city of the Samaritans; but go ye rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And, while going, preach, saying, 'The Kingdom of Heaven has come nigh.' read more.
Heal the sick; raise the dead; cleanse the lepers; cast oat demons; freely ye received, freely give. Procure neither gold, nor silver, nor brass, for your girdles; nor wallet for your journey, nor two coats, nor sandals, nor a staff; for the laborer is worthy of his food. "And into whatsoever city or village ye enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide till ye go forth. And, as ye are coming into the house, salute it: and, if, indeed, the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but, if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And, whosoever does not receive you, nor hear your words, as ye are going forth out of that house or city, shake off the dust, of your feet. Verily I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city. "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; become ye, therefore, as wise as the serpents and as innocent as doves. But beware of men; for they will deliver you up to high-councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you; and before the governors and the kings shall ye be brought for My sake, for a testimony to them and to the gentiles. And, when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given you in that hour what to speak; for it is not ye that speak, but, the Spirit of your Father Who speaketh in you. "And brother will deliver up brother to death; and father, his child; and children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye will be hated by all, for My name's sake; but he who endures to the end, the same shall be saved. "And, when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next; for verily I say to you, ye will in no wise finish the cities of Israel, till the Son of Man come! If they called the Master of the house Beelzebub, how much more those of his house-hold? Fear them not, therefore; for nothing has been covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I am saying to you in the darkness, speak ye in the light; and what ye hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. But whosoever denies Me before men, him will I also deny before My Father Who is in Heaven. "Think not that I came to send peace on the earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword; for I came to set a man at variance with his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and the man's foes will be those of his own house-hold. Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others; and sent them away, two and two, before His face, into every city and place, whither He Himself was about to come. And He said to them, "The harvest, indeed, is great, but the laborers few. Pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that He urge forth laborers into His harvest. Carry no purse, nor wallet, nor sandals; and salute no one by the way. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, 'Peace be to this house.' And, if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it; but, if not, it will return to you. And in the same house abide, eating and drinking the things supplied by them; for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you; and heal the sick therein, and say to them, 'The Kingdom of God has come near to you.' But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, going forth into the streets thereof, say, 'Even the dust from your city, that cleaves to our feet, we wipe off against you; nevertheless, know this, that the Kingdom of God has come nigh.' I say to you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city. "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you Bethsaida! because, if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, shall you be exalted to Heaven? You shall be thrust down to Hades! "He who hears you hears Me; and he who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects Him Who sent Me."

This charge I commit to you, child Timothy, according to the prophecies going before in respect to you, that you may war with these the noble warfare; holding faith, and a good conscience, which some having thrust from them made shipwreck concerning the faith; of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered up to Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme.

Rebuke not an elder, but exhort him as a father; the younger men, as brethren: the elder women, as mothers: younger, as sisters, in all purity. Honor widows who are widows indeed. read more.
But, if any widow has children or grand-children, let them learn first to show regard to their own family, and to make returns to their parents; for this is acceptable before God. Now she that is really a widow, and left alone, has set her hope on God, and continues in supplications and prayers, night and day. But she who lives in pleasure, though living, has died. And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless. But, if any one provides not for his own, and especially for his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. Let a widow be enrolled, when she has become not less than sixty years old, having been a wife of one man, noted for good works; if she nourished children, if she used hospitality, if she washed the saints' feet, if she relieved those in tribulation, if she diligently followed every good work. But younger widows refuse; for, when they grow wanton against Christ, they wish to marry, having condemnation, because they set aside their first faith. And, at the same time, they learn to be idle, going around from house to house, and not only idle, but tattlers also and busy-bodies, speaking things which they ought not. I desire, therefore, that younger widows marry, bear children, rule a house-hold, give no occasion to the adversary for reproach; for already some turned aside after Satan. If any believing woman has widows, let her relieve them, and let not the assembly be burdened, in order that it may relieve those who are really widows. Let elders who preside well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in word and teaching. For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle the ox while threshing," and "The laborer is worthy of his wages." Against an elder receive not an accusation, except on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Those who sin reprove before all, that the rest also may have fear. I solemnly charge you before God, and Christ Jesus, and the elect angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality. Lay hands hastily on no one, neither be partaker of other men's sins. Keep yourself pure.

For which cause, I put you in remembrance that you stir into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and sobriety. Be not ashamed, therefore, of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner; but suffer hardship with me for the Gospel, according to the power of God, read more.
Who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose, and grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before eternal ages, but now made manifest through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus; Who abolished death, and brought to light life and incorruption through the Gospel; for which I was appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher. For which cause I am suffering also these things; but I am not ashamed; for I know Whom I have believed, and have become persuaded that He is able to guard my deposit unto that day. Hold the pattern of healthful words which you heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

I charge you before God, and Christ Jesus, Who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His Kingdom, preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching. For there will be a time when they will not endure the healthful teaching; but, having itching ears, they will for themselves heap up teachers according to their own desires; read more.
and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to the fables. But be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fully accomplish your ministry. For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure has arrived. I have contended in the noble contest, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, will recompense to me in that day, and not only to me, but also to all those who have loved His appearing.

So, when they breakfasted, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He says to Him, "Yea, Lord, Thou knowest that I fondly love Thee." He saith to him, "Feed My lambs." He saith to him again a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" He says to Him, "Yea, Lord, Thou knowest that I fondly love Thee." He saith to him, "Feed My sheep." He saith to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you fondly love Me?"
