And with many other words bare he witness, and exhorted them saying, "Save yourselves from this untoward generation."
The froward and overthwart generation hath marred themselves to himward, and are not his sons for their deformities' sake.
Jesus answered, and said, "O generation without faith, and crooked: how long shall I be with you? And shall suffer you? Bring thy son hither."
Then he goeth his way, and taketh unto him seven other spirits worse than himself, and so enter they in and dwell there. And the end of that man is worse than the beginning. Even so shall it be with this evil nation."
The generation that think themselves clean, shall not be cleansed from their filthiness.
When he saw many of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, "O generation of vipers, who hath taught you to flee from the vengeance to come?
He answered them saying, "The evil and adulterous generation seeketh a sign; but there shall no sign be given to them, but the sign of the prophet Jonah:

Jesus answered, and said unto them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will rear it up again."
And he began to teach them, how that the son of man must suffer many things, and should be reproved of the elders and of the high priests and scribes, and should be killed, and after three days arise again.
And Jesus answered them saying, "The hour is come that the son of man must be glorified.
Behold, the hour draweth nigh, and is already come, that ye shall be scattered every man his ways, and shall leave me alone. And yet am I not alone. For the father is with me.
"Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the gentiles, to be mocked, to be scourged, and to be crucified: and the third day he shall rise again."
He answered them saying, "The evil and adulterous generation seeketh a sign; but there shall no sign be given to them, but the sign of the prophet Jonah: For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
As they passed the time in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, "The son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men, and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall rise again." And they sorrowed greatly.
"Ye know that after two days shall be Easter, and the son of man shall be delivered to be crucified."
And as they did eat, he said, "Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me."
He answered and said, "He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. The son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe be to that man, by whom the son of man shall be betrayed. It had been good for that man, if he had never been born."
Then came he to his disciples and said unto them, "Sleep henceforth, and take your rest. Take heed: the hour is at hand, and the son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going: Behold, he is at hand that shall betray me."
For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, "The son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him, and after that he is killed he shall arise again the third day."
And they were in the way, going up to Jerusalem. And Jesus went before them. And they were amazed. And as they followed, were afraid. And Jesus took the twelve again, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him. "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the son of man shall be delivered unto the high priests and unto the scribes: and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the gentiles, and they shall mock him, and scourge him and spit upon him, and kill him, and the third day he shall rise again."

Peter said unto him, "Lord why cannot I follow thee now? I will give my life for thy sake." Jesus answered him, "Wilt thou give thy life for my sake? Verily, verily I say unto thee, the cock shall not crow, till thou have denied me thrice."

Then answered certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees saying, "Master, we would fain see a sign of thee." And behold, a greater than Solomon is here. When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh throughout dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he sayeth, 'I will return again into my house, from whence I came out.' And when he is come, he findeth the house empty and swept, and garnished. Then he goeth his way, and taketh unto him seven other spirits worse than himself, and so enter they in and dwell there. And the end of that man is worse than the beginning. Even so shall it be with this evil nation."

And others tempted him seeking of him a sign from heaven. But he knew their thoughts, and said unto them, "Every kingdom divided within itself shall be desolate: and one house shall fall upon another. So if Satan be divided within himself: how shall his kingdom endure? Be cause ye say that I cast out devils by the power of Beelzebub? read more.

And it fortuned, as he thus spake those things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, "Happy is the womb that bare thee and the paps, which gave thee suck. But he said, "Yea, happy are they that hear the word of God, and keep it." When the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil nation. They seek a sign, and there shall no sign be given them, but the sign of Jonah the prophet. For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so shall the son of man be to this nation. The queen of the south shall rise at the judgment, with the men of this generation, and condemn them. For she came from the end of the world, to hear the wisdom of Solomon: and behold a greater than Solomon is here. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee, be not darkness. For if all thy body shall be light, having no part dark: then shall all be full of light, even as when a candle doeth light thee with his brightness."
