Then was Jesus led away of the spirit into wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward a hungered. Then came to him the tempter, and said, "If thou be the son of God, command that these stones be made bread." read more.
He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.'" Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, "If thou be the son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, 'He shall give his angels charge over thee: and with their hands they shall hold thee up, that thou dash not thy foot against a stone.'" And Jesus said to him, "It is written also, 'Thou shalt not tempt thy Lord God.'" The devil took him up again and led him into an exceeding high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and all the glory of them; and said to him, "All these will I give thee if thou wilt fall down and worship me." Then said Jesus unto him, "Depart, Satan: For it is written, 'Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and him only shalt thou serve.'"


The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to bring forth young, and discovereth the thick bushes; in his temple doth every man speak of his honour.


And before the lamp of God went out Samuel laid him down to sleep, in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was.

But as for me, I will come into thy house, even upon the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's seat is in heaven. His eyes consider the poor, and his eyelids try the children of men.

We wait for thy loving-kindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

for thy temple's sake at Jerusalem; so shall kings bring presents unto thee.


And were continually in the temple, praising, and lauding God. Amen.

And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem. But the other people cast lots therefore, so that among ten one part went to Jerusalem into the holy city to dwell, and nine parts in the cities.

and set thy judges again as they were sometime, and thy Senators as they were from the beginning. Then shalt thou be called the righteous city, the faithful city.

Which are called free men of the holy city, as they that look for comfort in the God of Israel, whose name is the LORD of Hosts.

And ye shall know that I, the LORD your God, dwell in Zion my holy mount. And Jerusalem shall be holy, and there shall no stranger pass through there any more.

Ye are they which have bidden with me in my temptations.


And immediately the spirit drove him into a wilderness: and he was there in the wilderness forty days, and was tempted of Satan, and was with wild beasts. And the angels ministered unto him.

For before the child come to knowledge, to eschew the evil and chose the good, the land that thou so abhorest shall be desolate of both her kings.

Jesus then full of the holy ghost, returned from Jordan, and was carried of the spirit into a wilderness, and was forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days ate he nothing: And when they were ended, he afterward hungered. And the devil said unto him, "If thou be the son of God, command this stone that it be bread." read more.
And Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread only, but by every word of God.'" And the devil took him up into a high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, even in the twinkling of an eye. And the devil said unto him, "All this power will I give thee every whit, and the glory of them: for that is delivered to me, and to whosoever I will I give it: If thou therefore wilt worship me, they shall be all thine." Jesus answered him, and said, "Hence from me, Satan. For it is written, 'Thou shalt honour the Lord thy God, and him only serve.'" And he carried him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, "If thou be the son of God, cast thyself down from hence. For it is written, 'He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee, and with their hands they shall stay thee up, that thou dash not thy foot against a stone.'" Jesus answered and said to him, "It is said, 'Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.'" And as soon as the devil had ended all his temptations, he departed from him for a season.




Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, "If thou be the son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, 'He shall give his angels charge over thee: and with their hands they shall hold thee up, that thou dash not thy foot against a stone.'"

And he carried him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, "If thou be the son of God, cast thyself down from hence. For it is written, 'He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee, and with their hands they shall stay thee up, that thou dash not thy foot against a stone.'"

{A Psalm of Asaph} O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled, and made Jerusalem a heap of stones.

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name, because of thy loving-kindness and truth; for thou hast magnified thy word, according unto thy great name.


Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, "If thou be the son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, 'He shall give his angels charge over thee: and with their hands they shall hold thee up, that thou dash not thy foot against a stone.'"
