So then as through one man sin entered into the world, and through sin death, and thus [death] came through unto all men, because all sinned
(whereas ye know not what will be on the morrow; for what is your life? Ye are even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away;)
For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Whether then we live or die, we are the Lords.
And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, Write, Blessed are the dead, who die in the Lord from henceforth. Yea, saith the Spirit, that they shall rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.
This he spoke, and afterwards said to them, Our friend Lazarus hath fallen asleep; but I go that I may awake him out of sleep. The disciples therefore said to him, Lord, if he hath fallen asleep, he will recover. But Jesus had spoken of his death; but they thought that he spoke of the taking of rest in sleep.
And going in, he saith to them, Why do ye make this confusion and weeping? The child is not dead, but is sleeping.
For David, after having in his own generation served the will of God, fell asleep, and was added to his fathers, and saw corruption;
After that, he appeared to more than five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some have fallen asleep.
For this we say to you in the word of the Lord, that we who are living, we who are left till the coming of the Lord, shall not anticipate those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a loud summons, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are living, we who are left, shall be caught up together with them in clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we be ever with the Lord.
Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep; but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is everlasting life, through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus saith to him, I am. Moreover I say to you, Henceforth ye will see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.
And Jesus said, I am; and ye will see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.
And then will they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
who said, Men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This Jesus, who hath been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same manner in which ye beheld him going into heaven.
so also Christ having been once offered up to bear the sins of many, will appear the second time, without sin, for the salvation of those who are waiting for him.
But that day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.
But that day or hour knoweth no one, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father.
Therefore be ye also ready; for at an hour when ye think not, the Son of man cometh.
Behold, I come as a thief; blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, that he may not walk naked, and his shame be seen.
For the Son of man is to come in the glory of his Father, with his angels; and then will he render to every one according to his works.
And when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then will he sit on the throne of his glory, and before him will be gathered all the nations; and he will separate men one from another, as a shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats;
and when I have gone away and prepared a place for you, I will come again, and will take you to myself; that where I am, ye also may be.
So then judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the purposes of mens hearts; and then shall every one have his praise from God.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a loud summons, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are living, we who are left, shall be caught up together with them in clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we be ever with the Lord.
and when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye will receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away.
Beloved, now are we children of God, and it hath not yet been manifested what we shall be. We know that, when it shall be manifested, we shall be like him; because we shall see him as he is.
And now, my children, abide in him; that when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
so also watch ye; for ye know not when the master of the house is coming, whether at evening, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning;
Repent therefore and turn from your ways, that your sins may be blotted out, in order that the times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send forth Christ Jesus, who was before appointed for you;
I charge thee before God, who giveth life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who under Pontius Pilate testified the good profession, that thou keep the commandment without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Seeing that all these things are thus to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in holy conduct and godliness,
Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice, and will come forth, they that have done good, to a resurrection of life; they that have done evil, to a resurrection of condemnation.
having a hope in God, which they themselves also entertain, that there will be a resurrection both of the righteous and the unrighteous.
For this is the will of my Father, that every one who looketh on the Son and believeth in him, shall have everlasting life; and I will raise him up in the last day.
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he have died, will live;
knowing that he who raised up the Lord Jesus will raise up us also with Jesus, and will present us with you.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a loud summons, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first;
and will come forth, they that have done good, to a resurrection of life; they that have done evil, to a resurrection of condemnation.
And these will go away into everlasting punishment; but the righteous into everlasting life.
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown an animal body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is an animal body, there is also a spiritual body.
And this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep; but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.read more.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.
And I saw a great white throne, and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged out of the things written in the books, according to their works.
For neither doth the Father judge any one, but hath committed all judgment to the Son;
and he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is he who hath been appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.
inasmuch as he hath fixed a day, in which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he hath appointed; having given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.
and he that liveth; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore; and I have the keys of death and the underworld.
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him; the word that I have spoken, that will judge him in the last day.
and to you the distressed rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be manifested from heaven, with the angels of his might, in flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus;
but the present heavens and the present earth are by his word kept in store, reserved for fire against the day of judgment and the perdition of ungodly men.
And if any one was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.
Truly, truly do I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and cometh not into condemnation, but hath passed out of death into life.
He that believeth in him is not condemned; he that believeth not hath already been condemned, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
There is then now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life set me free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
For we must all be made manifest before the judgmentseat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in his body, according to what he did, whether good or bad.
