Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple, and he that sits on the throne will dwell among them. When he puts out all his sheep he goes before them, and the sheep follow him; for they know his voice. But a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him, for they know not the voice of strangers. This parable spoke Jesus to them, but they knew not what the words which he spoke to them meant. Then said Jesus to them again, I tell you most truly, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep have not heard them. I am the door; by me if any one enters in he shall be saved, and go in and out, and find pasturage. The thief comes not, except to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep. But the hired servant, and one who is not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf seizes and scatters them; for he is a hired servant and cares not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I give my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; and them I must lead, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one flock, one shepherd. Therefore my Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have a right to lay it down, and I have a right to take it again; this commandment have I received from my Father.
