When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, "What if Joseph bears a grudge and wants to repay us in full for all the harm we did to him?" So they sent word to Joseph, saying, "Your father gave these instructions before he died: Tell Joseph this: Please forgive the sin of your brothers and the wrong they did when they treated you so badly.' Now please forgive the sin of the servants of the God of your father." When this message was reported to him, Joseph wept.
The messengers returned to Jacob and said, "We went to your brother Esau. He is coming to meet you and has four hundred men with him." Jacob was very afraid and upset. You are bound for judgment because you are robbing me -- this whole nation is guilty. "Bring the entire tithe into the storehouse so that there may be food in my temple. Test me in this matter," says the Lord who rules over all, "to see if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until there is no room for it all.

If God puts no trust in his servants and attributes folly to his angels,
If God places no trust in his holy ones, if even the heavens are not pure in his eyes,
But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people.
It is better to take shelter in the Lord than to trust in people.
Can you count on it to bring in your grain, and gather the grain to your threshing floor?
For they do not speak the truth; their stomachs are like the place of destruction, their throats like an open grave, their tongues like a steep slope leading into it.
For I do not trust in my bow, and I do not prevail by my sword.
Do not trust in princes, or in human beings, who cannot deliver!

Everyone must be on his guard around his friends. He must not even trust any of his relatives. For every one of them will find some way to cheat him. And all of his friends will tell lies about him.
As a matter of fact, even your own brothers and the members of your own family have betrayed you too. Even they have plotted to do away with you. So do not trust them even when they say kind things to you.
Do not rely on a friend; do not trust a companion! Don't even share secrets with the one who lies in your arms!
What good is an idol? Why would a craftsman make it? What good is a metal image that gives misleading oracles? Why would its creator place his trust in it and make such mute, worthless things?
