King Solomon command that they cut fine large stones for the foundation of the Temple.

Joshua pronounced an oath at that time, saying: Cursed be the man before Jehovah, that rises up and builds this city Jericho. He will lay the foundation at the cost of his firstborn. He will set up the gates at the cost of his youngest son.

In his days Hiel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundation at the price of Abiram, his oldest son, and he put its doors in place at the price of his youngest son Segub. This was according to the word of Jehovah spoken through Joshua, the son of Nun.

They should do good works and be rich in good works, that they are ready to distribute, willing to communicate. They store up for them a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life that is life indeed.

You founded the earth of old. The heavens are the work of your hands.

Therefore leaving the elementary truths of the doctrine of Christ let us move on to maturity. Let us not lay again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God. We should not repeat the basic teachings about baptisms, and of the laying on of hands (setting apart for holy tasks), and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
