And ye no longer suffer him to do anything for his father or his mother; making void the word of God by your traditional teaching which ye have delivered; and many such like things ye do.
But he answering said to them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God on account of your traditional teaching? For God commanded saying, Honour father and mother; and, He that speaks ill of father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or mother, It is a gift, whatsoever it be by which received from me thou wouldest be profited:read more.
and he shall in no wise honour his father or his mother; and ye have made void the commandment of God on account of your traditional teaching.
And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and has taken away thy blessing.
Whatever man revileth his father and his mother shall certainly be put to death: he hath reviled his father and his mother; his blood is upon him. And a man that committeth adultery with a man's wife, who committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall certainly be put to death.
And further ye do this: ye cover the altar of Jehovah with tears, with weeping, and with sighing, insomuch that he regardeth not the oblation any more, nor receiveth it with satisfaction at your hand. The wife has not authority over her own body, but the husband: in like manner also the husband has not authority over his own body, but the wife. And ye fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.
