The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

And he has on his robe and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. And he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end."
For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers and saw decay; but he whom God raised did not see decay.

And Jesus said, while he taught in the temple, "How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David? David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared: 'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand till I put your enemies under your feet."' Therefore David himself calls him 'Lord'; how is he then his son?" And the common people heard him gladly.
While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, "What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?" They said to him, "The son of David." He said to them, "How is it then that David, inspired by the Spirit, calls him 'Lord', saying,read more.
'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, till I put your enemies under your feet"'? If David then calls him 'Lord,' how is he his son?"
And he said to them, "How can they say that the Christ is the Son of David? For David himself says in the Book of Psalms, 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."'read more.
David therefore calls him 'Lord,' and how is he his son?"
and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,
"Brethren, I may say to you confidently of the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. And so, because he was a prophet, and knew that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to hades, nor did his flesh see decay.read more.
This Jesus God raised up again, and of that we are all witnesses. Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."
And after he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; concerning whom he testified and said, 'I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.' From this man's descendants God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as he promised.
