For this cause shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
There is a deep mystery here?? am speaking of Christ and his church. But as for you individually, you must each one of you love his own wife exactly as if she were yourself; and the wife, on her part, should reverence her husband.
"And I tell you that any man who divorces his wife for any cause except her unfaithfulness, and marries another woman, commits adultery."
"Any man who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her;
"Every man who divorces his wife and marries some one else, commits adultery; and he who marries one who is put away by her husband commits adultery.
but because there is so much immorality let each man have his own wife; and let each women have her own husband. Let the husband give his wife her due, and likewise the wife her husband. The wife is not mistress of her own person, but her husband is; and in the same way the husband is not master of his own person, but his wife is.
Let deacons be the husband of but one wife, men who rule their children and their household properly.
The minister should be a man of blameless character; he should be husband of but one wife; he should live a sober, self-restrained, orderly life; he should be hospitable, skilled in teaching;
men who are blameless, the husband of one wife, with believing children who are not accused of riot or insubordination.
