For Moses hath of old time them that preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every sabbath-day.
And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up; and as his custom was; he went into the synagogue on the sabbath, and stood up to read.
And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the chief of the synagogue sent to them, saying, Brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation to the people, speak.
But their understandings were blinded: and until this day the same veil remaineth unremoved on the reading of the old testament, which is taken away in Christ. But the veil lieth on their heart when Moses is read until this day.

And he said to them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need and was hungry he and they that were with him? How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the shew-bread, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and gave also to them who were with him?
And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read, even this, what David did, when he hungered, and they that were with him? How he went into the house of God, and took and ate the shew-bread, and gave also to them that were with him, which it is not lawful to eat, but for the priests only?
And he answering said to them, Have ye not read, that he who made them, made them male and female from the beginning?
were sore displeased, And said to him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith to them, Yea: have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
And have ye not read this scripture? The stone which the builders rejected, is become the head of the corner? This was the Lord's doing, and it was marvellous in our eyes.
And hearing it they said, God forbid. And he looked on them and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, this is become the head of the corner?
But touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac,
When therefore ye see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (he that readeth, let him understand;) Then let them who are in Judea flee to the mountains:

And when this epistle hath been read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.
I charge you by the Lord, that this epistle be read to all the brethren.
All scripture is inspired of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;
Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things in all the scriptures, concerning himself.
By reading which ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ:
But these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life thro' his name.

These were more ingenuous than those of Thessalonica, receiving the word with all readiness of mind, and daily searching the scriptures, whether those things were so?
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from Christ who called you by his grace to another gospel, Which is not another; but there are some that trouble you, and would subvert the gospel of Christ. But if we or an angel from heaven preach to you another gospel than we have preached to you, let him be accursed:read more.
As we have said before, so I say now again, if any preach to you another gospel than that ye received, let him be accursed.
Wherefore, beloved, seeing ye look for these things, labour to be found of him in peace, without spot and blameless. And account the long-suffering of our Lord salvation, as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given him, hath written to you: As also in all his epistles, speaking therein of these things, in which are some things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
