Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say. Yes, I attended to you, and behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:

Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish, foolishness; but to us who are saved, it is the power of God. For when in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling-block, and to the Greeks foolishness; But to them who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who from God is made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

Therefore behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even an astonishing work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

Therefore he disputed in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.
