Let your actions be such, with regard to others, as you should think reasonable with regard to yourselves, for this is the substance of the law and the prophets.
and the second has an affinity with it, "thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self."

Finally, my brethren, whatever has the character of truth, of dignity, of justice, of chastity, whatever can procure you esteem and reputation, in a word, if there be any thing virtuous or praise-worthy, let that be the object of your enquiry.

as to the married, I enjoin this rule, not as from my self, but from the Lord, that a woman should not leave her husband: but if she has separated herself, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
Dames, be submissive to your husbands, as becomes christians. husbands, love your wives, and do not exasperate them.
Let the married women be subservient to their husbands, that if they happen to disbelieve the gospel, they may be gain'd by the instructive conduct of their wives,
Children, obey your christian parents: for this is the law. the first commandment with a promise annexed, is, "honour thy father and mother, that it may be well with thee, and thou mayst be long-lived on the earth."read more.
and you fathers don't exasperate your children: but instruct them in the discipline and institution of the Lord.
children, obey your parents upon all occasions, for that is graceful in a christian. fathers, don't treat your children with severity, lest they be discourag'd.
if a widow has children or grand-children, let them above all things instruct their own family to be religious, and let them be grateful to their parents, for this is acceptable to God.
he that takes no care of his relations, especially those of his own family, has renounc'd the faith and is worse than an infidel.
servants, be entirely obedient to those, whom the laws have made your masters, and not meerly out of regard to their observation, as designing only to please men, but from a principle of integrity, as fearing God:
as for you, masters, give to your servants what is just and suitable: considering that you also have a master in heaven.
Servants, be obedient to your legal masters, with awful reverence and sincerity of heart, as unto Christ:
Let those who are in a state of servitude, consider the entire respect due to their masters, that the name of God, and the doctrine of the gospel may not be blasphemed.
