Like a father has compassion on his children, so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him.
and in the wilderness, where you have seen how that Yahweh your God bore you, as a man does bear his son, in all the way that you went, until you came to this place."

Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won't give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? Or if he asks for an egg, he won't give him a scorpion, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"
Fathers, don't provoke your children, so that they won't be discouraged.
One who spares the rod hates his son, but one who loves him is careful to discipline him.
You shall consider in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so Yahweh your God chastens you.
If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and, though they chasten him, will not listen to them; then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out to the elders of his city, and to the gate of his place; and they shall tell the elders of his city, "This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard."read more.
All the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones: so you shall put away the evil from the midst of you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
My son, don't despise Yahweh's discipline, neither be weary of his reproof: for whom Yahweh loves, he reproves; even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights.
Discipline your son, for there is hope; don't be a willing party to his death.
Folly is bound up in the heart of a child: the rod of discipline drives it far from him.
Don't withhold correction from a child. If you punish him with the rod, he will not die.
The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.
The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching; not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence;read more.
(but if a man doesn't know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the assembly of God?)
It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn't discipline? But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then are you illegitimate, and not children. Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?read more.
For they indeed, for a few days, punished us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness. that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.
and that their children, who have not known, may hear, and learn to fear Yahweh your God, as long as you live in the land where you go over the Jordan to possess it."
A wise son listens to his father's instruction, but a scoffer doesn't listen to rebuke.
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
You fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.

Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord.

A foolish son brings grief to his father, and bitterness to her who bore him.

So Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had said. Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. They judged the people at all times. They brought the hard causes to Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves. Moses let his father-in-law depart, and he went his way into his own land.
Her husband arose, and went after her, to speak kindly to her, to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of donkeys: and she brought him into her father's house; and when the father of the young lady saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.
