'Prophet' in the Bible

They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet:

Then what had been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled:

For this is the one referred to by Isaiah the prophet when he said,“The voice of one crying in the wilderness,‘Make ready the way of the Lord,Make His paths straight!’”

He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet.

But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet;

This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:“I will open My mouth in parables;I will utter things hidden since the foundation of the world.”

And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.”

But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the people; for they all regard John as a prophet.”

When they sought to seize Him, they feared the people, because they considered Him to be a prophet.

“Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),

They asked him, and said to him, “Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.

Therefore when the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

Some of the people therefore, when they heard these words, were saying, “This certainly is the Prophet.”

They answered him, “You are not also from Galilee, are you? Search, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.”

So they *said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him, since He opened your eyes?” And he said, “He is a prophet.”

This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel:

And so, because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants on his throne,

Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren; to Him you shall give heed to everything He says to you.

And it will be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’

This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren.’

However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet says:

and he was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah.

Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
