'Two' in the Bible
When Herod saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, he became enraged. He sent men to kill all the children in Bethlehem and throughout the surrounding region from the age of two and under, according to the time he had learned from the wise men.
As he was walking by the Sea of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon (called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen).
Going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. Then he called them.
And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two.
"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
When he came to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were extremely violent, so that no one was able to pass by that way.
As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, shouting, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"
Aren't two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will.
They said to him, "We have here only five loaves and two fish."
Then he instructed the crowds to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and two fish, and looking up to heaven he gave thanks and broke the loaves. He gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds.
If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire.
And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into fiery hell.
"If your brother sins, go and show him his fault when the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have regained your brother.
But if he does not listen, take one or two others with you, so that at the testimony of two or three witnesses every matter may be established.
Again, I tell you the truth, if two of you on earth agree about whatever you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.
For where two or three are assembled in my name, I am there among them."
and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and will be united with his wife, and the two will become one flesh'?
So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
He said to her, "What do you want?" She replied, "Permit these two sons of mine to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom."
Now when the other ten heard this, they were angry with the two brothers.
Two blind men were sitting by the road. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted, "Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David!"
Now when they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,
"What do you think? A man had two sons. He went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work in the vineyard today.'
Which of the two did his father's will?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, tax collectors and prostitutes will go ahead of you into the kingdom of God!
All the law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."
Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one left.
There will be two women grinding grain with a mill; one will be taken and one left.
and will cut him in two, and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
To one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.
In the same way, the one who had two gained two more.
The one with the two talents also came and said, 'Sir, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more.'
"You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified."
He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and became anguished and distressed.
But they did not find anything, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally two came forward
The governor asked them, "Which of the two do you want me to release for you?" And they said, "Barabbas!"
Then two outlaws were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.
Just then the temple curtain was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks were split apart.
