'Self indulgent' in the Bible
The lazy person buries his hand in the dish [losing opportunity after opportunity];It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth.
He who keeps the law [of God and man] is a wise and discerning son,But he who is a companion of gluttons humiliates his father [and himself].
I thought to myself, "Come now, I will try self-indulgent pleasure to see if it is worthwhile." But I found that it also is futile.
I said of partying, "It is folly," and of self-indulgent pleasure, "It accomplishes nothing!"
“Do you think that you become a king because you have much more cedar [in your palace than Solomon]?Did not your father [Josiah], as he ate and drank,Do just and righteous acts [being upright and in right standing with God]?Then all was well with him.
