'Unless' in the Bible

unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been for me, surely now empty thou hadst sent me away; mine affliction and the labour of my hands hath God seen, and reproveth yesternight.'

Then He said to Jacob, “Let Me go, for it is daybreak.”But Jacob said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me.”

Does a bird swoop down into a trap on the ground if there is no bait? Does a trap spring up from the ground unless it has surely caught something?

Surely the Lord God does nothingUnless He reveals His secret counselTo His servants the prophets.
