Cultivate love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but rather that you may prophesy.

See that no one render evil for evil to any, but always pursue that which is good toward one another and toward all.

And he called to him the multitude with his disciples, and said to them: Whoever determines to follow after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying: I am the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Then Peter answered and said to him: Behold, we have left all and followed thee; what, then, shall we have? Jesus said to them: Verily I say to you, That, in the restoration, when the Son of man shall sit on his glorious throne, you also who have followed me shall sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that has left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundred fold, and shall inherit eternal life. When Jesus saw that he was very sad, he said: How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom, of God. And those who heard it said: Who, then, can be saved? read more.
He replied: Things that are impossible with men, are possible with God. Then Peter said: Behold, we have left all and followed thee. And he said to them: Verily I say to you, There is no one that has left house, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who shall not receive manifold more in this time, and in the age to come, eternal life.

And as he was walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, throwing a net into the sea, for they were fishers. And he said to them: Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.

and in like manner also upon James and John the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon: Fear not; from this time forth you shall catch men. And when they had brought their ships to the land, they left all and followed him.

Beloved, do not imitate that which is evil, but that which is good. He that does good is of God: he that does evil has not seen God.

and whoever does not take his cross and fol low after me, is not worthy of me. He that finds his life shall lose it; and he that loses his life for my sake, shall find it.
