This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and who has written these things; and we know that his testimony is true.
THE former record I made, Theophilus, of all things that Jesus began both to do and to teach, till the day on which he was taken up, after he had, through the Holy Spirit, given commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen.
For I delivered to you among the first things, that which I also received: That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures; and that he was buried; and that he rose again the third day, according to the scriptures; and that he was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve;read more.
after that, he was seen by more than five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain till this day; but some have fallen asleep. After that, he was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Last of all, he was seen by me also, as one untimely born.
For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; but we were eye-witnesses of his majesty.
THAT which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled concerning the Word of life; (the life also was manifested, and we have seen, and do testify, and declare to you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested to us;) that which we have seen and heard, we declare it to you, that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.read more.
And these things we write to you, that your joy may be full.
Then he opened their mind, that they might understand the scriptures, and he said to them: Thus it is written, and thus was it necessary that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.read more.
You are witnesses of these things.
But you shall receive power, after the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses for me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the most distant part of the earth.

This is the stone that was rejected with contempt by you builders, which has become the head of the corner. And there is salvation in no other; nor, indeed, is there another name under heaven, given among men, by which we must be saved. Now, when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and plain men, they were astonished; and they also recognized them, that they had been with Jesus; and, seeing the man who had been cured standing with them, they had nothing to say in reply. But, having commanded them to go aside out of the Sanhedrin, they consulted with one another, saying: What shall we do with these men? For that an evident sign has been done by them, is manifest to all that dwell in Jerusalem, and we can not deny it. But that it may spread no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, so that they speak no more to any man in this name. And they called them in, and commanded them to speak no more at all, nor to teach, in the name of Jesus. Bat Peter and John answering them, said: Whether it is right in the sight of God to obey you rather than God, judge you. For we can not but speak the things that we have seen and heard.
and we are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit also, whom God has given to them that obey him.
But God raised him. from the dead. And he was seen for many days by those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people.
how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation? which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard him; God also bearing testimony with them by signs and wonders, and by various mighty deeds, and by distributions of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will.
The elders that are among you I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and a sharer in the glory that is to be revealed.

How, then, shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, unless they be sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring joyous news of good things!
But I make known to you, brethren, the gospel that I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
to me, who am by far the least of all the saints, has this grace been given, that I might preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of the Christ, and enlighten all men with respect to the plan of the mystery, which was concealed from the ages in God, who created all things;
But when they believed Philip, who preached the good news concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were immersed, both men and women.
For, since in the wisdom of God, the world, by its wisdom, knew not God, it has pleased God, through the foolishness of what is preached, to save those who believe.
They had heard only that he who formerly persecuted us was now preaching the faith which he once destroyed.
preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and teaching.
Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken to you the word of God: attentively consider the result of their conduct, and imitate their faith.
But the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I have spoken to you.
But when the Paraclete has come, whom I will send to you from my Father, the Spirit of the truth, which proceeds from the Father, he will testify of me;
I have yet many things to say to you; but you can not bear them now. But when he, the Spirit of the truth, has come, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak of himself; but what he hears, that will he speak, and he will show you things to come. He will glorify me; for he will take of mine, and show it to you.read more.
All things that the Father has are mine; for this reason I said, that he will take of mine, and show it to you.
This is he that came by water and by blood, Jesus the Christ; not by water only, but by water and by blood: and it is the Spirit that testifies, because the Spirit is truth.
