At my first defense no one came to my support, but all deserted me; may it not be counted against them.

As he came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her.

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

They were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them; and they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. And he took the twelve aside again and began to tell them what was to happen to him.

Besides such external things, there is the daily pressure on me of concern for all the churches.

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And he fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward he was hungry.

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. In those days he ate nothing, and when they had ended, he was hungry.

And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,

When they heard this, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath. And they rose up and cast him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw him down the cliff. But passing through the midst of them, he went his way.

Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?"

Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, when you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave me alone. And yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.

But when you pray, go into your room, shut the door and pray to your Father, who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, "O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."

Now in the morning, a long while before daylight, he rose and went out to a solitary place, and there he prayed.

Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. And after he had left them, he went up on the mountain to pray.

I, John, your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

After six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves. And he was transfigured before them,

I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. And I know that this manwhether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows was caught up to paradise and heard inexpressible things, which a man is not permitted to tell.

And he said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a lonely place and rest a while." For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. So they went away in the boat to a lonely place by themselves.

Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
