“Therefore their inhabitants were short of strength,They were dismayed and put to shame;They were as the vegetation of the field and as the green herb,As grass on the housetops is scorched before it is grown up.

A voice of one saying, Give a cry! And I said, What is my cry to be? All flesh is grass, and all its strength like the flower of the field.

O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

Edom is there, her kings and all her princes,who, despite their strength, have been placedamong those slain by the sword.They lie down with the uncircumcised,with those who descend to the Pit.

All the leaders of the northand all the Sidonians are there.They went down in shame with the slain,despite the terror their strength inspired.They lie down uncircumcisedwith those slain by the sword.They bear their disgracewith those who descend to the Pit.

For I will lay the land most desolate, and the pomp of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be desolate, that none shall pass through.

The shattered horn and the four that took its place are four kingdoms that will come from his nation, but they will not have his strength.
