2 Timothy 2 Parallel Bible (Modern Spelling Tyndale-Coverdale)

Exhortation To Be Strong In Grace

11 Thou, therefore, my son be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

11 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

11 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

11 You, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

11 As for you, my child, be strong by the grace that is in the Messiah Jesus.

22 And what things thou hast heard of me, many bearing witness, the same deliver to faithful men, which are apt to teach others.

22 The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

22 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

22 And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

22 What you have heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others as well.

33 Thou therefore suffer affliction as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

33 Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

33 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

33 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

33 Join me in suffering like a good soldier of the Messiah Jesus.

44 No man that warreth entangleth himself with worldly business; and that, because he would please him that hath chosen him to be a soldier.

44 No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

44 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

44 To please the recruiter, no one serving as a soldier gets entangled in the concerns of everyday life.

44 No one serving in the military gets mixed up in civilian matters, for his aim is to please his commanding officer.

55 And though a man strive for a mastery, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

55 Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules.

55 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

55 Also, if anyone competes as an athlete, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.

55 Moreover, no one who is an athlete wins a prize unless he competes according to the rules.

66 The husbandman that laboureth must first receive of the fruits.

66 The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops.

66 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.

66 It is the hardworking farmer who ought to be the first to get a share of the crops.

66 Furthermore, it is the hard working farmer who should have the first share of the crops.

77 Consider what I say. The Lord give thee understanding in all things.

77 Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

77 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

77 Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

77 Think about what I am saying. The Lord will help you to understand all these things.

A Trustworthy Saying

88 Remember that Jesus Christ, being of the seed of David, rose again from death according to my gospel,

88 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel,

88 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

88 Keep in mind Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descended from David, according to my gospel.

88 Meditate on Jesus, the Messiah, who was raised from the dead and is a descendant of David. This is the gospel I tell others.

99 wherein I suffer trouble as an evil doer, even unto bonds. But the word of God was not bound.

99 for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned.

99 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

99 For this I suffer, to the point of being bound like a criminal; but God's message is not bound.

99 Because of it I am experiencing trouble, even to the point of being chained like a criminal. However, God's word is not chained.

1010 Herefore I suffer all things, for the elects' sakes, that they might also obtain that salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

1010 For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.

1010 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

1010 This is why I endure all things for the elect: so that they also may obtain salvation, which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

1010 For that reason, I endure everything for the sake of those who have been chosen so that they, too, may receive the salvation that is in the Messiah Jesus, along with eternal glory.

1111 It is a true saying: If we be dead with him, we also shall live with him;

1111 It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;

1111 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:

1111 This saying is trustworthy: For if we have died with Him, we will also live with Him;

1111 This saying is trustworthy: In dying with the Messiah, true life we gain.

1212 If we be patient, we shall also reign with him; If we deny him, he also shall deny us;

1212 If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us;

1212 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

1212 if we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He will also deny us;

1212 Enduring, we with him will reign. Who him denies, he will disclaim.

1313 If we believe not, yet abideth he faithful. He cannot deny himself.

1313 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

1313 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

1313 if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

1313 Our faith may fail, his never wanes That's who he is, he cannot change!

A Worker Approved To God And Not Ashamed

1414 Of these things put them in remembrance, and testify before the Lord, that they strive not about words, which is to no profit, but to pervert the hearers.

1414 Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers.

1414 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

1414 Remind them of these things, charging them before God not to fight about words; this is in no way profitable and leads to the ruin of the hearers.

1414 Remind others about these things, and warn them before God not to argue over words. Arguing does not do any good but only destroys those who are listening.

1515 Study to show thyself laudable unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, dividing the word of truth justly.

1515 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

1515 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

1515 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who doesn't need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.

1515 Do your best to present yourself to God as an approved worker who has nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of truth with precision.

1616 Unghostly and vain voices, pass over. For they shall increase unto greater ungodliness,

1616 But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness,

1616 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

1616 But avoid irreverent, empty speech, for this will produce an even greater measure of godlessness.

1616 However, avoid pointless discussions. For people will become more and more ungodly,

1717 and their words shall fret even as doth a canker: of whose number is Hymenaeus and Philetus,

1717 and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,

1717 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

1717 And their word will spread like gangrene, among whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus.

1717 and what they say will spread everywhere like gangrene. Hymenaeus and Philetus are like that.

1818 which as concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already, and do destroy the faith of divers persons.

1818 men who have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and they upset the faith of some.

1818 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

1818 They have deviated from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and are overturning the faith of some.

1818 They have abandoned the truth by claiming that the resurrection has already taken place, and so they destroy the faith of others.

1919 But the sure ground of God remaineth, and hath this seal: the Lord knoweth them that are his, and let every man that calleth on the name of Christ, depart from iniquity.

1919 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness."

1919 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

1919 Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, having this inscription: The Lord knows those who are His, and Everyone who names the name of the Lord must turn away from unrighteousness.

1919 However, God's solid foundation still stands. It has this inscription on it: "The Lord knows those who belong to him," and "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord must turn away from evil."

2020 Notwithstanding, in a great house are not only vessels of gold and of silver: but also of wood and of earth: Some for honour, and some unto dishonour.

2020 Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor.

2020 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

2020 Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver bowls, but also those of wood and earthenware, some for special use, some for ordinary.

2020 In a large house there are not only utensils made of gold and silver, but also those made of wood and clay. Some are for special use, while others are for ordinary use.

2121 But if a man purge himself from such fellows, he shall be a vessel sanctified unto honour meet for the Lord, and prepared unto all good works.

2121 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

2121 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

2121 So if anyone purifies himself from these things, he will be a special instrument, set apart, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

2121 Therefore, if anyone stops associating with these people, he will become a special utensil, set apart for the owner's use, prepared for every good action.

2222 Lusts of youth avoid, and follow righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with them that call on the Lord with pure heart.

2222 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

2222 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

2222 Flee from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

2222 Flee from youthful passions. Instead, pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love, and peace together with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart.

2323 Foolish and unlearned questions put from thee, remembering that they do but gender strife.

2323 But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels.

2323 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

2323 But reject foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they breed quarrels.

2323 Do not have anything to do with foolish and stupid discussions, because you know they breed arguments.

2424 But the servant of the Lord must not strive: but must be peaceable unto all men, and apt to teach,

2424 The Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged,

2424 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

2424 The Lord's slave must not quarrel, but must be gentle to everyone, able to teach, and patient,

2424 A servant of the Lord must not argue. Instead, he must be kind to everyone, teachable, willing to suffer wrong,

2525 and one that can suffer the evil in meekness, and can inform them that resist - if that God at any time will give them repentance for to know the truth -

2525 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,

2525 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

2525 instructing his opponents with gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance to know the truth.

2525 and gentle when refuting opponents. After all, maybe God will allow them to repent and to come to a full knowledge of the truth,

2626 that they may come to themselves again out of the snare of the devil, which are now taken of him at his will.

2626 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

2626 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

2626 Then they may come to their senses and escape the Devil's trap, having been captured by him to do his will.

2626 so that they might escape from the Devil's snare, even though they've been held captive by him to do his will.
