Yahweh Is Holy

² “Speak to the entire Israelite community and tell them: Be holy because I, Yahweh your God, am holy. ³ “Each of you is to respect his mother and father. You are to keep My Sabbaths; I am Yahweh your God. ⁴ Do not turn to idols or make cast images of gods for yourselves; I am Yahweh your God.

Exodus 20:12

Honor your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

Ezekiel 20:12

Ezekiel 22:7-8

Father and mother are treated with contempt, and the foreign resident is exploited within you. The fatherless and widow are oppressed in you.

Malachi 1:6

“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is your fear of Me? says Yahweh of Hosts to you priests, who despise My name.”

Yet you ask: “How have we despised Your name?”

For God said:

The one who speaks evil of father or mother
must be put to death.

Children, obey your parents as you would the Lord, because this is right.

Hebrews 12:9

Furthermore, we had natural fathers discipline us, and we respected them. Shouldn’t we submit even more to the Father of spirits and live?
