So, Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of man [i.e., to crucify Him], then you will know that I am [the Messiah] and that I do not do anything on my own authority, but I speak [only] those things that the Father has taught me.
Your forefather Abraham was glad that he could look forward to my day [i.e., by faith he anticipated the coming of the Messiah. See Heb. 11:13ff]. And he saw it [by faith] and was glad."
His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews, since the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed Him as Messiah,
the Jews came about him, and said, how long will you keep us in suspense? if you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.
do you believe this? yes, Lord, said Martha, I believe that thou art the Messiah the son of God, who was to come into the world.
Upon which the people said to him, we have learnt from the law, that the Messiah is to live for ever: why do you say then, the son of man must be lift up? who is this son of man?
I am telling you this now, [even] before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe that I am [the Messiah].
and this is life eternal, to acknowledge thee to be the only true God, and Jesus to be the Messiah whom thou hast sent.
But these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah,

The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the LORD it is awesome in our sight. This is the day that the LORD has made; let's rejoice and be glad in it. Please LORD, deliver us! Please LORD, hurry and bring success now! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD! Let us bless you from the LORD's house. The LORD is God he will be our light! Bind the festival sacrifice with ropes to the horn at the altar. You are my God, and I will praise you; my God, and I will exalt you.
