For our exceeding tribulation, which is momentary and light, prepareth an exceeding and eternal weight of glory unto us,
"Behold, happy is the man whom God punisheth: therefore, despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty.
But as for my way, he knoweth it: and tryeth me as the gold in the fire.
Before I was troubled, I went wrong, but now I keep thy word.
It is better to go into a house of mourning, than into a banquet house: For there is the end of all men, and he that is living taketh it to heart.
And he said, "In my tribulation I called unto the LORD, and he answered me: out of the belly of hell I cried, and thou heardest my voice.
And the same third part will I bring through the fire, and will cleanse them, as the silver is cleansed: Yea and try them, like as gold is tried. Then shall they call upon my name, and I will hear them: I will say, 'It is my people.' And they shall say, 'LORD, my God.'"
No manner chastising for the present time seemeth to be joyous, but grievous; nevertheless, afterward it bringeth the quiet fruit of righteousness unto them which are therein exercised.
And I said unto him, "Lord, thou knowest." And he said unto me, "These are they which came out of great tribulation and made their garments large, and made them white in the blood of the lamb:

My flesh and my heart faileth; but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.
"The spirit of the Lord upon me, because he hath anointed me; To preach the gospel to the poor he hath sent me; And to heal which are broken hearted: To preach deliverance to the captive; And sight to the blind; And freely to set at liberty them that are bruised; And to preach the acceptable year of the Lord."
We are troubled on every side, yet are we not without shift. We are in poverty: but not utterly without somewhat. We are persecuted: but are not forsaken. We are cast down: nevertheless we perish not. And we always bear in our bodies the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus might appear in our bodies.
Wherefore, we are not wearied: but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
