When you sit to eat with a ruler, you shall surely observe what [is] before you, and you shall put a knife to your throat if you have a {big appetite}. Do not desire his delicacies, for it is food of deception.

Therefore [because] these [things] are undeniable, it is necessary [that] you be quiet and do nothing rash! For you have brought these men [here] [who are] neither temple robbers nor blasphemers of our goddess. If then Demetrius and the craftsmen [who are] with him have a complaint against anyone, the court days are observed and there are proconsuls--let them bring charges against one another! read more.
But if you desire anything further, it will be settled in the lawful assembly.

But when they had stretched him out for the lash, Paul said to the centurion standing there, "Is it permitted for you to flog a man [who is] a Roman citizen and uncondemned?" And [when] the centurion heard [this], he went to the military tribune [and] reported [it], saying, "What are you about to do? For this man is a Roman citizen!" So the military tribune came [and] said to him, "Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?" And he said, "Yes." read more.
And the military tribune replied, "I acquired this citizenship for a large sum of money." And Paul said, "But I indeed was born [a citizen]. Then immediately those who were about to examine him kept away from him, and the military tribune also was afraid [when he] realized that he was a Roman citizen and that {he had tied him up}.

in which they found me purified in the temple [courts], not with a crowd or with a disturbance. But [there are] some Jews from Asia who ought to be present before you and bring charges against [me], if they have anything against me,

What's more, God truly does not act wickedly, and Shaddai does not pervert justice. Who gave him charge [over the] earth? Or who laid on [him] [the] whole world? If he should set his heart to it, and he should gather his spirit and his breath to himself, read more.
all flesh would perish together, and humankind would return to dust. "But if [you have] understanding, hear this; listen to {what I say}. Shall [he who] hates justice really govern? Or will you declare [the] Righteous One, the Mighty, guilty?-- the one who says to a king, 'You worthless man,' to noblemen, 'You wicked man,' who {shows no partiality to officials} and [who] {does not take note of the noble more than of the insignificant}, for all of them [are] the work of his hands? [In] a moment they die, and [in] the middle of [the] night [the] people are shaken, and they pass away, and they take away [the] mighty {effortlessly}.

And [when they] came, they said to him, "Teacher, we know that you are truthful and {you do not care what anyone thinks}, {because you do not regard the opinion of people} but teach the way of God in truth. Is it permitted to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or should we not pay?" [because you] know that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. Serve the Lord Christ. For the one who does wrong will receive back whatever wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.

but as the one who called you [is] holy, [you] yourselves be holy in all [your] conduct, for it is written, "You will be holy, because I [am] holy." And if you call on [him] [as] Father who judges impartially according to each one's work, conduct yourselves with fear during the time of your temporary residence,

Then Job arose and tore his outer garment and shaved his head; {then} he fell upon the ground and he worshiped. Then he said, "Naked I came out from my mother's womb, and naked I will return there. Yahweh gives, and Yahweh takes. Let Yahweh's name be blessed."

And in your hand [is power] to make great and to give strength to all.

And you may think in your heart, 'My strength and the might of my hand {acquired this wealth for} me.' But you must remember Yahweh your God, for he [is] the [one] giving you strength to acquire wealth in order to confirm his covenant that he swore to your ancestors {as it is today}.
